Hi and welcome to the first deck created by all of us at DadsGamingDK.

Ant-Man was already a top tier hero. He scales incredibly well with a lot of the new aggression cards. Watch the video below:

https://youtu.be/z4mDW2f4RQU

The science behind building a powerful deck Well first of all it requires synergy, by that I mean some heroes can get incredible value out of specific cards. let's have a look at what Ant-man can do with some of these new cards:

  • Smash the Problem is so powerful when you have Giant Strength out, you can burst thwart for 1 cost. Even without upgrades, an aggression card that can thwart for 3 with a 1 cost card is extremely good.
  • 3 copies of Ready to Rumble is an auto include in every Ant-Man deck from now on. I always felt that he needed something like this. It scales well with Smash the Problem
  • Surprise Attack is ofc a must have in any antggression deck.
  • Swarm Tactics becomes a viable card with 2 different Wasps in the deck. Although it's not always playable, it can really be a difference maker when it is.

Other noteworthy cards:

  • Target Acquired is a great filler card and can save you from a lot of trouble. Anything that cuts the villian's tempo is incredible
  • Quincarrier can fuel some of the specific ressource cards that are in this deck.
  • The allies: I chose allies based on my personal preference. Honestly you can replace whichever you like.

"Why aren't you running Quick Strike?" I did run 2 copies of it at first, but it has proven itself to be unreliable. Either I was getting it when I was already in Giant form, when I didn't have upgrades out or when i wanted to go to alter ego. I removed them and added an extra copy of both Smash the Problem and Surprise Attack. They are cheaper and far more reliable throughout the entire game.

Mulligan Ant-Man's Helmet is one of the best upgrades in the game and is a top priority to play when it's in your hand. Besides that you'll want support cards, upgrade cards or allies. Double ressource cards to pay for them is also ideal. "But what about villains who put a lot of pressure on me from the get-go? Should I still mulligan for upgrades?" Remember that Ant-man can deal 4 damage or thwart for 3 on turn 1 before he even plays any cards.

"I want to tweak the deck a little/I like to have more than 40 cards in my deck. What could I choose?" Here are some examples of cards that could easily fit the deck:

I never even noticed 'ready to rumble' existed. what a great use of it. and damn 'smash the problem' needs you to exhaust ... i can see how this works toghether

Great video. I love you "danlish" :D

@It's an amazing card for sure. All according to plan :p

@Thanks for checking it out. Be sure to watch more of our videos. My 2 fellow "Danglish" speaking dads are currently hit by covid-19, but more videos will come :)

Cool Concept. Are the Allies just chumb blockers? Noticed that you used hulk as a 5 health shield. why didnt i think of that

Jan 23, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@RonnieC Yeah pretty much :) Double Wasp do have some synergy with Swarm Tactics . Brawn is there to lift things "LIGHTWEIGHT BABY" ;)

i really want to fit Quick Strike into this :-) but i can see how this deck is more catered to be functional instead of just a gimmick

Jan 23, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@Ultrondevice That was my intend. That's why I like to playtest decks under pressure. If it's too gimmicky it can never survive Mutagen Formula on expert :)

Cool deck! One question tho, have you tried/considered one copy of Battle Fury? I'd guess it goes really well together with Smash the Problem. Also, with so many allies, Boot Camp might be another viable option for this deck. Thoughts?

Jan 24, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@stilonxyBoth are definitely viable options. I'll have to try it out :)

I'm not convinced by Smash the Problem in general: exhausting your hero is a real cost, either the opportunity cost of doing a basic ATK or THW, or the cost of a ready (which is about 2 resources in this deck). StP itself costs 2 (card +1), so in practice that thwart is costing you about 4. In this deck, you can reasonably get to 5 or 6 ATK, so odds are you can get some good value. For decks that struggle to reach 4 ATK, I don't think it's good enough.

@Fry It has saved me a couple of times (also in the video) I like having it as an option when playing aggression. 1 cost + exhaust then yes you need a high attack to get value from this, but again, the devs have to make sure that it never gets stronger than any justice 'thwart' cards. . It's there to give aggression a thwart option and I like it a lot more than what the aspect previously had to offer :)

Hi! I really appreciate you having video and I wish more deckbuilders considered this.

My biggest suggestion, I think you need to slow down a bit. There were a lot of errors being made. You didn’t add threat when Goblin dealt damage to you, after he schemed, and didn’t place the correct amount of threat on Goblin Reinforcements. You never resolved the when defeated effects on Overrun. It seemed like there were points where you dealt extra damage to Goblin or minions, but I’m not entirely sure on this because it was hard to follow. You didn’t surge when you got hit by Exhaustion.

I like your deck and I REALLY like that you included video. I just think you need to take things a bit slower for the next video, double check the card effects, and ultimately this will be easier to follow. I look forward to your next one!

Ah, looking again at the deck list it seems like you played a different version on stream as well. I’m not seeing Enhanced Physique here

Jan 26, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@journeyman2Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I also saw a lot of the mistakes, it's actually harder to explain and playat the same time than I initially thought. I've been tweaking back and forth and trying against different villains before i posted this. This was only 1 out of many recordings, so that version had enhanced physique in it instead of Tigra if I recall correctly :) Thank you for watching and commenting.

havent seen you create decks in a while and know you got 2 on the front page. good to have you back

Feb 04, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@Ganzgut Wauw thanks a lot! Yeah apparently I'm doing something right. Do you have any requests? :)

Looks like a fun deck! I built something very similar today but with more physical resources (Brawn and Bug replaced with Avengers, Smash the Problem replaced with Clobber) as I really like access to stun using his Wrist Gauntlets. Great minds think alike :)

I was wondering, how long after changing form can you use Ready to Rumble action? I.e. Can I flip to Giant form, attack with basic attack, ready with Ready to Rumble response and attack again? Or can it only happen immediately after a form change?

Feb 07, 2022 rstorcdk · 5242

@Marctimmins89 Some of the newer cards really open up more possibilities :) It has to happen right after you change form, so you really have to think about how you play your turns more than most other decks

Feb 11, 2022 Fry · 254

@Marctimmins89 refer to the rules reference for your question about Response timing. Basically, you get one chance immediately after the trigger condition to do the thing (in this case, Ready to Rumble), and then your opportunity has passed. So you can't basic attack and THEN activate Ready to Rumble.
