Concept –

A true solo Aggression deck for Cable that feels like a Cable adventure. The idea is to eat up any minions, and chip away on the Villain while Cable plots and prepares for devastating damage.

Goal –

By turn three or four you should have a very full board. Some combination of Graymalkin, Professor, Moira MacTaggert, Weapon X, Plasma Rifle, Temporal Leap, and Telekinetic Force Field. The victory display should have at least 4 PSS in it, one of which is Call for Backup. You should have already been using Mutant Educationto pack your slim remaining deck with Telekinetic Blast. Ideally you have triggered Temporal Leap to get Call for Backup in play (or already had it in play) and have ended your turn in AE.

With above in place, you have one heck of a turn prepped. Use Professor to gain a card (7 in hand), Use Weapon X (8 in hand). Flip to Hero triggering Moira MacTaggert (9 in hand). Spend Graymalkin on something like Brute Force, then clear Call for Backup and ready Graymalkin. Call in Nick Fury from Call for Backup and get the 3 card option (12 cards in hand, 13 if you have Surveillance Specialist). Hand is loaded to brim now, and contains 2 Telekinetic Blast with 10+ damage each. With allies, basic attacks, and Telekinetic Blasts you should be able to wreck a Villain's day.

Strategy -

You want to get a Mind Scan in your opening hand, so don’t be afraid of tossing almost everything to find it. Picking Specialized Training for setup is a strong choice for acceleration of board setup. Between basic thwart and Mind Scan you should have Surveillance Specialist in play turn 1, and hopefully a second PSS on the board. In True solo, you can clear this second one too with a basic thwart as long as it isn’t Technovirus Purge. Remember cards like Moira MacTaggert and Professor are high priority too. You start in AE they help accelerate the board build as well. Marked, Directed Force, and Surprise Move are rarely important in opening hands because most villains do not have minions at start. They are plentiful so mulligan/discard them to dig for more important opening hand cards. Brute Force is the same, but only because for the first couple turns Cable should be busy thwarting. If you managed to get Professor out the PSS hunt will usually follow the list below: Specialized Training: Surveillance Specialist > Build Support: Graymalkin/Professor/Moira MacTaggert > Call for Backup: Nick Fury/Professor X As you are trying to build up to the “Goal” turn outlined above you can use the aggression cards to control minions and chip at the villain. Minions are delicious. Eat them up with a garnish of Marked/Surprise Move/Directed Force for ultimate satisfaction. Late game a Marked minion s a great liability to the Villain. If no minions wander onto your plate, just use these cards to pay for more board build. Special note, Plasma Rifle is a Ranged attack which means it loves Directed Force as well. Graymalkin readies frequently and is pretty much a Rifle magazine.

Card Breakdown –

Marrow – Incredibly efficient for cost. Deals 2 damage when she enters play, then can attack for another 2. That’s 4 damage before she blocks an attack for you. Marrow only gets played if you find yourself needing that block or the 4 damage boost. Otherwise she is often spent on a mind scan or TKB.

Nick Fury – 99% of the times he enters play are from Call for Backup, and he brings 3 cards with him. Great blocker.

Professor X – Considering replacing. He is here for Call for Backup on Scheme heavy villains. So far he has had very limited use in play testing.

Directed Force – Cheap and effective damage adder. Combines with Marked, Brute Force, and Plasma Rifle.

Mutant Education – You will be flipping to AE often to take advantage of Professor/Moira/Weapon X/Recovery. Might as well load your remaining deck with Mind scan and TKB. Knowing you can cycle from graveyard means being able to spend a card like TKB on build up early game.

Surprise Move – I love the combo. Being able to slap a Villian through their minion is so fun. Add a directed Force on there, and/or a Brute force… exciting. Then being able to ready up after that deflated minions doom… extasy. Unfortunately marked minions don’t stick around very long. I tried the deck with more Surprise moves in it, but more often then not used Surprise move to pay for other cards.

Moira MacTaggert – Free card when going back into action. Yes please.

Weapon X – Good at fetching, but lowest priority of the supports.

Brute Force – Manage action loss from toughness. Bonus of added damage. Remember that a brute force will stay on the board till Cable performs a basic Attack.

Marked – Simple and cheap. Don’t let damage go to waste. If no minions, these are just coins to be spent.

My first posting, and frankly first deck for this game. Will learn the mark up and come back for hotlinks and formatting. Looks like X-Bunker is a better version of Weapon X. Will be updating to that.
