Symbiote Suit. Live Dangerously. What a combo - a dangerous combo. +3 hand size and buffed stats are a dream for any hero. Now if only there were some way to mitigate the threat of all those bad symbols...

Enter Mitigated Threat.

When I saw this green card sitting at the back of Jessica Jones's pack, I first thought "Huh. Turning off a nasty side scheme for a resource per player. Could be useful, I guess." Then I re-read the text. "Wait - attach to A card???" I immediately started thinking about how I could live more dangerously, safely.

The goal of this deck is to take advantage of the aforementioned benefits of Symbiote Suit and Live Dangerously with (minor) consequences. And Spider-Woman is absolutely ready to reap the rewards of "risky" play.

Start off the game by mulliganing (or Mulliganing) hard for Live Dangerously or Symbiote Suit (the suit if you're able to secure one of the 'Pool resources in your opening hand), and ideally, one of your Mitigated Threats. If you get these online early, you're in for a good time! And with your increased hand size, you're likely going to pull one or both of your Finesse soon, which are going to become your means of paying the tax on Mitigated Threat.

But not to worry if you don't - this deck comes equipped with useful tools to help get your dangerous tools into play.

Plot Convenience and Contingency Planning can park Mitigated Threat until you get Live Dangerously or Symbiote Suit into play. Plot Convenience is also generically useful for holding aspect cards for Spider-Woman until you're ready to stack up +1 counters.

Since it can take awhile to get set up (we've all seen our best cards wind up being at the bottom of the deck), we have built in some staying power. Healing Factor and What Doesn't Kill Me on top of Contaminant Immunity will keep Spider-Woman healthy while you dig deep for those cards.

No issues taking a trip to AE if you're taking too much of a beating, though! You might even find a Mitigated Threat in Jessica Drew's Apartment, or peek a good card with Jessica's ability that you can easily pull with Rock, Paper, Scissors. And after a break to find some more of your kit, Hidden Base will leave you that much tougher when you return to hero form. And if you happen to be Ready for a Fight, all the better!

Spider-Woman obviously loves readies - particularly when you've managed to play 2-3 aspect cards (or the much more achievable 4 aspect cards - more achievable thanks to a hero hand size of 8!). Self-Propelled Glide, What Doesn't Kill Me, and Stick-To-Itiveness (which I usually end up paying for with the Quincarrier) will give you plenty of opportunities to punish the villain with your inflated stats. And if the villain tries to stop you from using those inflated stats with an untimely stun/confuse, The Night Nurse has you covered.

And just in case you decided your hand could use even more cards in it, you will have the buying power to drop an Avengers Mansion and your good friend Captain Marvel into play (if you're playing with non-cardboard friends, do the friendly thing and let them take advantage of your Mansion).

Brother Voodoo means you'll likely find another aspect event to play (hopefully one of the aspects you've yet to play this turn!). And speaking of aspect cards, Deft Focus is a nice cheap generator to cover 9 of the cards in her kit.

In the vein of mitigating the threat of all of these fantastic but consequential cards, we also have a tool for dealing with the inevitable Dreadpool in the form of Pinned Down. What's great is you can also tuck this card under either Plot Convenience or Contingency Planning until you pull Crisis of Infinite Deadpools, and then proceed to ignore Dreadpool for the remainder of the game. I also greatly enjoy keeping Contingency Planning on hand as fodder for Caught Off Guard.

I guess the biggest downside of drawing a quarter of your deck at the end of every turn would be how many encounter cards you are going to be seeing? But we'll call that a fun opportunity to interact with more of the game!

CARDS TO CONSIDER REMOVING/SUBSTITUTING:

-Symbiote Suit: I would really only suggest this if you're playing multiplayer and your friends think you suiting up is a bit selfish (since they're on the hook to pay the tax for your Mitigated Threat). However, I doubt you'll be hearing complaints from them about the tax for +2 hand size off Live Dangerously.

-Deft Focus: Again, cheap generator that covers 9 of your cards. But if you're a stickler for getting as close to 40 cards as possible, dropping a basic card is more sensible, especially since you won't have much trouble paying for those Superpowers with all of your resources.

-1 Mulligan > +1 Cutupper: 3 copies of Mulligan might feel excessive to you. I like increasing the chance of drawing it so I have more chances to dig faster for the important parts of the kit, but I've played with 2 copies too and done just fine! Cutupper is a good replacement though.
