Yeah, yeah, yeah, a Sidekick X-23 deck, we've all seen it. Of course we've seen it, there's nothing quite like sharing a Sisterly Bond. BUT! When you have a whole supportive family behind you, it's really something special. And let's be real, is there a more supportive family than the Summers?

Mom is there to pick you up and make you feel better, leaving you and your sister ready to try and try again!

Dad is full of dad-isms, providing "a little oomph" that turns a "try" into a "triumph!"

And your new... Older? Younger? Time travel is hard... your new sister has cool stuff you can borrow!

Making sure Gabby is with you is always a first priority, but she's a big girl and can get herself dressed and ready. Even when they're not right there, knowing you can call a parent when you need help the most is great, and every good parent knows when to step back and reassuringly say "You Got This!"

Alright, fun jokey write-up aside, let's talk shop now. It's my first time publishing a deck! I've been away from the game for a cool minute, just life stuff, work, being a parent, et cetera, and really haven't played much since Mutant Genesis. But because my partner is wonderful, I got ALL caught up for my birthday this year and have been going absolutely hog wild with the new stuff, and really fell in love with X-23. Maybe I'm boring, but I like characters that just do basic power stuff real good, and she does basic powers REAL GOOD. I originally built her in Protection (my favorite aspect, bar none) but quickly wanted to try her in every aspect, just for the deckbuilding exercise, and this version of Blue X-23 was my favorite.

Between just the luck of the draw and Suit Up, I really do find myself saving Call for Backup for Cyclops or Phoenix when I inevitably draw the magical Christmas land hand of Claw Mastery, Game Time, Game Time, Side-by-Side, double resource. Now granted, it's not always THAT perfect, but even one or two readies plus pulling the extra damage or additional ready+heal "for free" from the side scheme feels like I just moved to Valuetown USA. I've also had success using it to get Hope into play, 'cause SHE AIN'T CHEAP! And pulling Pain Tolerance alongside her with the resources to plop it down same turn feels nice, or if you already got it, recurring your Regenerative Longevity isn't so bad. But ultimately, she's there to double down on Scott and Jean with Mutant Mayhem, a card I'm still KINDA debating, but I do really like. Marrow is the other potential (and much cheaper) option to trigger MM, plus she ties into the theme of being pokey and beating the brakes off of minions and villains. And of course Pixie is along for the ride for those emergency recursion moments when you inevitably draw your obligation.

Edit: oh right! I forgot to mention the other little piece of tech I haven't seen anyone talk about! Suit Up is great for grabbing Honey and DRT or Sidekick, but what if we already have those? Well, we've got other allies to fish up, but what about an upgrade? Clarity of Purpose, baby!!! Not only does it work as yet another source of readying for Laura if you need, but because it attaches to a friendly Character, not Identity, we can fish it out with a late Suit Up! At least I hope I'm right about that, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyways, enjoy my first published deck, it's flavorful which is what I like regardless of power level, and I've had some pretty consistent success with it! Currently it's been successful into Morlock Siege, (standard 1, standard 3, expert 1 with standard 1) Mansion Attack, (S3 and E1S3) and On the Run, (S1, E1S1) alongside a Justice Jubilee. (the other orphan who needs a home!)

Cyclops and Phoenix is such a great twist on x-23 sidekick! Welcome back to the game! I can’t wait to play this!!

@andyr Thanks! I've always been real self conscious about posting on here despite having played since literally day one release, so many amazing deck builders and synergies I'd have never thought of, but this one felt fun, I had a wacky write-up come to me, and hey, new year new me yadda yadda. I hope the deck behaves for you, I'm always open to feedback, especially since I'm an inefficient monkey who usually rides around 42-45 rather than a tight 40 XD

I see "Summer" in the description, I dive in. Love this twist. I too have been trying to get Mutant Mayhem to "pop" for me. I tried pairing decks (X-men / X-Force) for multiplayer, but it was meh. I also have to say that 42 is a very common count for my decks too. Will definitely try this, but will also try and cram in Cable under the excuse of him also being part of the tribe.

@Dayspring Haha, always happy to find a fellow Summers enjoyer! I did consider Cable, but with no enters play effect and only a single (in-house) side scheme, he felt hard to justify. But into the right scenario, Uncle-Brother Nathan could absolutely side board in. Actually, I had the Arcade modular in instead of Mystique for the aforementioned Mansion Attack test, probably could have used him there for a faster win!

@SpacerGal welcome back. It's not boring to like x-23, it's weird not to! I like the theme of the deck and you got this with x-23 can get absolutely crazy I've been working on one for that myself. Good stuff!
