There are a lot of good Wolverine Aggression builds out there, Fluid Motion, Confuse+Weapon X, Fastball Special ATK Stack...but not enough revolve around Berserker Frenzy
Toe to Toe, Claw to Claw
This deck is very simple:
- Get out Berserker Frenzy
- Summon a bunch of 1-2 ATK minions with Angela and Looking for Trouble
- Farm them for card draw with "Bring It!" and Berserker Frenzy
The real tech here is Toe to Toe. I had initially written it off since Wolverine wants to conserve his health for Claws, but a quick number breakdown shows that it is quite efficient!
Consider the sequence:
- Play Toe to Toe with Wolverine's Claws for net -1 health
- Minion attacks you for net -1 or -2 health
- Draw a card off Berserker Frenzy
- Deal 5 damage to minion, likely defeating it
Net Result: 5 damage for 0ER and 2-3 health
Compare to:
- Berserker Barrage 4 damage for 1ER and 2 health
- Slice and Dice 6 damage for 1ER and 3 health
- Lunging Strike 8 damage for 1ER and 3 health
- Clobber 3 damage for 0ER and 2 health
I value Toe to Toe being no cost from hand, basically replacing Berserker Barrage and Slice and Dice for me!
If you took a hit from that minion in the villain phase and drew a card off "Bring It!", you've now drawn 3 cards off that minion at the negligible cost of some health! If you count the Healing Factor at the start of your turn, any 1 ATK minions are a net 0 change in health and 0 change in ER!
Quickdraw McClaw
- Between Track by Scent, "Bring It!", and Berserker Frenzy, this deck has some crazy card draw
- Draw 2-3 cards in the villain phase from attacks, another 2-3 from "Bring It!", play some Toe to Toes to clear minions for no change in net resources, then Track by Scent to clear any schemes and you should still have 8-10 cards in hand to mess with
- This cycles Regenerative Healing quickly
- All of the card draw gets our allies back fast, meaning we don't need to run as many to guarantee Utopia triggers
- Sets up Forge and any key upgrades quickly
Clobber+Jarnbjorn Courtesy of ClassyRobot
- Clobber is a Wolverine staple, but I'm also including Jarnbjorn a neat tech I saw in a deck from criminally underrated user, ClassyRobot
- Play Clobber with Wolverine's Claws as your first card play, costing 2 health, then return it to hand and spend that same Clobber on Jarnbjorn
- Net result is 5 damage for 1ER and 2 health, slightly worse ER than Toe to Toe + Berserker Frenzy, but trades off being able to split the damage up into pockets of 3 and 2 for having to be the first thing you do that turn. There are pros and cons to each, but this deck is all about finding efficiency loopholes
- Just be careful, Clobber can sometimes get in the way of "Bring It!", since you want to get the card draw before you Clobber any minions
All the Other Stuff
- Colossus and Throg help tank the villain
- Forge finds The X-Jet and Utopia
- Sunfire is too generically useful not to include
- Endurance and Adamantium Skeleton get us to 17 hp to tank as many attacks as possible
- Utopia + X-Men allies is our primary source of thwarting, but also readies Wolverine for his chunky 6 REC in a pinch (just make sure you ready him before flipping down or after flipping up)
- In the event you have to flip down and discard Berserker Frenzy, Logan's Cabin can put it back in the deck
But Where is X Card?
- No Fluid Motion because this Wolverine will be basic thwarting a lot considering he only has Track by Scent, Professor X, and Looking for Trouble in terms of other thwart
- No Fastball Special because we have few attack boosts and no way to recur Colossus other than turbo draw (though you could include it over a Clobber)
- No Psylocke, Weapon X, or Honorary X-Men because we don't want to flip down and lose Berserker Frenzy unless we have to. Professor X covers our confuse needs nicely
Mulligan
- Number 1 target is Adamantium Skeleton, the extra 4 hp are integral to being able to tank attacks while you set up and cycle Regenerative Healing
- Utopia, The X-Jet, Berserker Frenzy are the economy picks
- Endurance helps when Adamantium Skeleton is stuck low in the deck
- Logan's Cabin is not a bad early play actually. Wolverine will typically need to flip down at least once early if Adamantium Skeleton isn't out, and Cabin can put Berserker Frenzy or Regenerative Healing back in the deck (or Adamantium Skeleton if it had to get passed up on)
This deck works best in scenarios that have great minion targets to farm, more difficult minions require cycling Regenerative Healing even more. I had a lot of fun with this deck in 3-player games with fellow Marvelcdb users Schmendrix and Mikepelf, as well as some true solo games!

Feb 03, 2023I had theorycrafted a deck similar to this. Pair it with Storm to have the minions hit for 1 damage less or someone with Pinned Down, and Wolverine could handle tons of minions on him. Great job! |
Feb 03, 2023I should add that Pinned Down would be for when Storm has Thunderstorm out, or when the minion has 3 attack to trigger Berserker Frenzy. |

Feb 04, 2023I like using this deck type with the Symbiote Suit, Follow Through and Moment of Triumph. Sometimes I'll have 5 minions on me and go down to 5 HP and then heal back up to 24 by the time I'm done. |

Feb 05, 2023I've been working on ideas for Berserker Frenzy build-around decks for a while, without much success. In the Aggression version I was using Moment of Triumph for extra healing, but Toe to Toe is brilliant! |

Feb 08, 2023I’m just happy to be here :) lol thanks for the shoutout! I’ve been looking more at Toe to Toe recently, since the value is pretty nuts for minions, and this deck takes it to 11. It also gives me a good reason to yell El kabong during games! |

Mar 04, 2023Strategy of this deck looks good on paper. On the game it works even better. Thanks to Logan's healing factor and Berserker Franzy the game just flows and givees a lot of fun to the player. As always great idea for a deck. Cheers, m8. |
