UPDATE - Dropped 1 x Assess the Situation, 1 x Lead from the Front, Helicarrier, Quincarrier for Wonder Man, 1 x United We Stand, Team Training and Deft Focus. The deck had enough resources without the carriers and benefits from an extra ally. Team Training and United We Stand help to get extra turns out of the allies. Deft Focus is in to power Photonic Blast. Currently undefeated on Expert (all core set scenarios, both Green Goblin scenarios, Red Skull Campaign, Ebony Maw)

CARD CHOICES

This deck takes the idea of Brian-V’s Draw and Slam and focuses on winning through a combination of Energy Channel, Photonic Blast, and Avengers Assemble! and Lead from the Front boosted ally attacks. The deck has 21 energy icons and Band Togethers become 9 wild icons fairly easily, so the Energy Channels are fairly easy to charge.

This deck is built around the Leadership card draw engine which consists of:

  • 7 x low cost allies
  • 3 x strength in numbers

The draw engine is boosted by Carol Danvers’/Captain Marvel’s own card draw abilities, Alpha Flight Station and Avengers Mansion. Assess the Situation helps the deck to seem more cards early on. 3 might not be necessary - I’m considering dropping one for a second Avengers Assemble!.

Energy Absorption, Energy, Band Together, Avengers Tower, Quincarrier and Helicarrier enable the large hands that are drawn to be played in full. The deck has so many resources that you can playing cards like Cosmic Flight and Crisis Interdiction that aren’t part of the gameplan but help to keep you safe while you’re setting up for a big turn.

The allies have been chosen for the following reasons:

  • Ant-Man - can be played for 1 to be used as a target for Strength In Numbers and can be played for 3 or 4 once the engine is up and running.
  • Blade - 1 cost target for Strength In Numbers and can be used as an attacker when you are ready.
  • Hawkeye - not that cheap but adds minion control and has an electric icon. Works will with Strength In Numbers as you don’t want to be attacking with him that often.
  • Kaluu - effectively a 1 cost target for Strength In Numbers and helps to dig for a copy of one of the key events.
  • Spider-Woman - Captain Marvel wants to spend time in alter-ego to maximise card draw, so the confuse effect and 2 THW are useful.
  • Stinger - another 1 cost Strength In Numbers target that provides a sixth ally.
  • White Tiger - not that cheap but provides draw, an electric icon and 2 thwart.

Avengers Tower and The Triskelion boost the number of allies that can be played up to 5 (6 with Stinger) for maximum Strength In Numbers effectiveness.
