I’ve been playing around with the twins on the board the last few days and had almost settled on Quicksilver with Protection. He was crazy good but fancied trying my hand at a different aspect, and I havn't really played much Aggression of late so thought I'd have a punt at it. I realised once he’s got his board down it’s pretty easy to get him at 6+ ATK and be able to ready him several times a turn for some insane amounts of damage, whilst wielding a very large axe.

To start with, the deck includes a couple of copies of Combat Training to help boost that attack alongside Reinforced Sinew, but I also really like Adrenaline Rush. The idea is to get as much sitting on the board as possible (hence being rather heavy on the Upgrades and Allies) so it’s easy to keep cycling through the events, namely Always Be Running and Maximum Velocity.

The most important thing though is to hard mulligan for Friction Resistance. Once you ready up from one of your various sources, you can then ready this fantastic resource generator. Every. Single. Time. The next piece of the combo is Jarnbjorn. Every time you attack you get to trigger Jarnbjorn for an extra 2 damage, the idea being exhaust, trigger Jarbjorn using Friction Resistance’s resource, ready by whatever means you need to (Quicksilver’s ability, Tenacity etc) and then ready Friction Resistance too. Rinse and repeat!

The allies are there to pretty much chump block where possible, or help trigger Earth's Mightiest Heroes, therefore I've tried to go for the cheapest resource allies (the card from Ironheart is great, and Mockingbird's Stun buys me an extra turn in Hero form). I’ve put Sentry in there as well to get some Thwarting actions in too (plus he’s an Avenger and amazing value).

Currently testing out Moment of Triumph, which can help heal in a pinch especially on those turns I’m on 5-7 ATK as I’m trying to stay in hero form as much as possible unless I need to flip to AE and trigger Serval Industries to get those readies back in my deck. It’s very much a flex card though and I have tried it with one of either Civic Duty, Chase Them Down or Into the Fray just to help with Thwarting in true solo. Skilled Strike will likely be in the deck in it’s place when against some of the slightly weaker hitting villains, or if I’m playing with someone running Protection so I can purely focus on damage dealing.

if though like me you play a lot of true solo, don’t worry about spending a turn using Maximum Velocity in concert with Hyper Perception to try and clear a tonne of threat off the board.

Down Time and Endurance I feel are somewhat needed, the former works nicely what with the various readies in the deck so you don’t feel like you wasted a turn just healing in alter-ego mode. The latter is very much appreciated as a buffer whilst you’re setting yourself up early.

I love Pietro as he’s an incredibly versatile hero who can play all the aspects in several different ways. Haven’t really tried him too much, but I’ve had a lot of success against this in solo (as well as paired with Scarlet Witch in both Protection and Justice) against several of the Expert villains. It's a relatively straightforward deck to play as it's just boost stats and ready as many times as possible but it's heaps of fun, especially when you have set yourself up and can easily ready 4/5 times in one turn all whilst triggering Jarnbjorn several times. It's definitely feasible to be hitting for 40 damage and more thereafter, which can easily take out several Guarding minions and the Villain in solo, or even a single Villain stage in multiplayer by yourself.

Always intrigued to know what changes y'all would make or if there is something glaringly obvious I've omitted!

Liking the idea of Jarnbjorn in with Quicksilver! Had considered going straight into a Protection build but will definitely have to try this out.

Solid deck indeed! I'm more and more inclined to say Tenacity could finally be useful after all this time, which I wasn't sold on when I first checked your deck. Well done!

Feb 08, 2021 NocturnalAnimal · 17700

@neothechosen I know, right? I’ve thumbed my nose at Tenacity for so long, but it works so well in this deck, that’s for sure.

Many thanks though, I’ve been having a lot of fun with Quicksilver :)

Man, this is a fun, ridiculously thematic deck. Just ran circles around Kang. Thanks!

Would Enhanced Physique help this deck? Thinking it might help get more Physical Resources available for Jarnbjorn so Friction Resistance can be used to activate Always Be Running

@TinPeregrinusCheers! Lovely to hear you enjoyed it, and if you have any suggestions for amendments or changes you'd make, feel free to share

@ProwlI hadn't really thought about it tbh, but that's more owing to trying to keep the deck at 40 cards max and not knowing what I'd boot for it! Especially as I try (difficult as it is) to keep the 0-1 cost cards as close to 50% of the deck where possible. Certainly will try 2x of it in place of something else and see how it works out, as an Upgrade it's at least another card to sit on the board.

I made this deck after playing with and being inspired by 2 Fast 2 Furious. Tell me what you think if you have time.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Deck Changes:

• Lower cost

• More opportunities to do more damage by pulling Jarnbjorn in exchange for Counter Attack and Skilled strike. This nets more damage opportunities for a lower resource cost.

• More hit points vs. healing only when defeating a minion. (Added Endurance to potentially net 3 extra HP and pulled Moment of Triumph

• Added Enhanced Physique while maintaining a low resource cost to help generate resources to allow more cards to be played each turn (pulled Quincarrier because of this)

• Allies modified to allow more to be played at overall lower cost presenting more opportunities to use Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and ready Quicksilver as well as add overall HP for allies to use as a chump block.

This deck is so much fun, thanks for posting it! I had the most epic, nail-biting game last night against Klaw. I’m relatively new to the game, so I’m sure I didn’t use the deck properly, but it was still a blast. I did get the Jarnbjorn and Friction Resistance combo out early, then was able to get Quicksilver’s attack to 3 with upgrades. I had to tank a couple hits from Klaw early but was then able to get some allies out. The drama came when Klaw got his attachment that allows him to retaliate every time he’s attacked. Oh crap! I used Wanda to attack and she got a lucky 3-boost attack, which finished her off but allowed me Thwart with Quicksilver 3 times, which was enough to have Jarnbjorn do Klaw in. There was 7 threat on Klaw’s 2nd scheme at the time. Love this game!

Hey just a thought, wouldn't Bug be a good ally? he cost 2 and he gets heal after each time your hero attacks, so it's basically a +1 damage each turn since QS will probably attack every turn or so

Jun 03, 2021 NocturnalAnimal · 17700

@Razorhell99Bug is absolutely great for this deck! At the time of creating it, he wasn't available at the time, but I've since added him. He's cheap and has a useful ability.

`@NocturnalAnimal I'm curious to know what have you changed to the deck since originally posting it?

Sep 29, 2021 MacGhille · 263

I wrote to FFG with questions about Jarnbjorn early this year, and didn't receive a response for...several months. It was discouraging, because I really wanted to make solid use of Jarn, but wanted to be certain I had the right idea. Then we got Rocket, Drax, Gamora and finally Venom, and a weapon-based build was 'just another deck', lol.

Thank you so much for this deck, it reignited my interest. I borrowed the basic idea (Jarn and chump blockers) and tried to build my own. Then discovered that there weren't a lot of variations that worked. However, my flavor of the Jarnbjorn combo is just different enough that I think you would find it intriguing. I credited you as the inspiration, so if you want to check it out, my deck is 'Never Stop Jarnbjorning'.

Thanks again for lighting the fire I had let burn out. I had a ton of fun playing and testing.

Oh, and if you're interested, the question I asked -that was finally answered- was if Jarnbjorn could be (theoretically) infinitely charged with might resources. So if you attack, then spend a might, you get to hit something for 2 damage with the Jarnbjorn upgrade. But can I keep pumping might resources into Jarn and get two damage for each resource? Turns out...yes. That is precisely what they intended.

I didn't capitalize on that in my deck (Pietro isn't built for it) but I have been rolling it around in my head for a bit. Would love to hear if you have thoughts.

Thanks once again!

Would you think this deck can be improved with newer cards? This deck is 3 years old by now so lots of new aggression cards have come out.

Mar 16, 2024 Nickoli · 62

Deft Focus, maybe?

Mar 16, 2024 MacGhille · 263

When I built my version of this deck, Deft Focus was an instant include, since all of Quicksilver's Hero Events are Superpowers. I did a rebuild recently, and the only two newer cards I added were Fluid Motion and Clobber.
