For my first foray into deck-building, I figured I'd try and create something to maximise the value of a single card: Symbiote Suit
The ideas here are fairly simple:
- Use Symbiote Suit for extra stat buffing
- Use Mitigated Threat to prevent the extra encounter card
- Use Contingency Planning as a location to store Mitigated Threat until Symbiote Suit shows up
- Use Quicksilver to benefit from his ability to ready multiple times in a turn
Mitigated Threat basically converts the extra encounter card into a requirement to pay 1 resource. This can either be met via the extra card from Symbiote Suit's increased hand size or from one of the many activations of Friction Resistance once that's in play.
For the rest of the deck, there's a few ideas going on:
- DEF increase cards (Armored Vest, Innate Reflexes, Defensive Conditioning, Ronin) to increase survivability until Quicksilver can find his suit
- Extra resource generators (Avengers Mansion, Quincarrier, Change of Fortune, Unflappable, Deft Focus) to ensure that there's resource available to do more than just play the Symbiote Suit when it shows up
- Lay Low and Angel's Aerie to allow you to drop down to alter-ego and recover before switching back to hero form
- I've only added a single ally Echo, who'll benefit from the DEF boosts in the deck and help to buy time to get the deck set up. There's some anti-synergy here with Ronin and Stand Alone but she's essentially serving the same purpose as those cards would.
- I've opted against using The Best Offense..., even though it'd clearly be great for this deck. My issue is that if you include it, that becomes the core part of this deck's strategy and Symbiote Suit ends up as just another card adding +1 DEF to fuel it. I'd rather have this deck meet it's intended goal of focusing on Symbiote Suit than try and optimise for pure power.
