What's better than 2 copies of Limitless Strength? How about 5 copies?
While updating some lists for a friend, I found a neat little card for Hulk called Organizational Support. If you have 3 allies or supports that share a trait, it generates the printed resources on those cards. Cue Blade, Hawkeye and Wonder Man! 3 Avengers with printed physical resources that you can get away with hardly using, so they won't mind being exhausted to generate you 3 physical resources for your expensive Hulk cards that require all physical resources.
But what about that gosh darned mental resource? Doesn't that ruin it? According to the 1.6 Rules Reference, it does not!
Under "Cost":
While paying a cost, a player is permitted to generate resources beyond the specified cost. Resources generated beyond the specified cost are considered to have been overpaid for that cost and were not paid for that cost.
So, to pay for a 3-cost Hulk Smash for example, you've exhausted 3 allies for 3 physical resources and a mental. You pay the 3 physical and overpay the 1 mental, and thus, you've only paid with physical resources!
To flesh out the list, here's the other cogs:
- Blade takes zero consequential damage if you discard a physical resource, which Hulk has a lot of! If you have a garbage hand, why not feed your friendly vampire friend?
- Hawkeye can exhaust to spit out some damage if you discard a card that you'd likely discard at end of turn anyways.
- Wonder Man can add his strength to Hulk's with Teamwork, or you can exhaust him to get an extra activation with Hulk using Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
- In order to get the allies out ASAP, 3 copies of Call for Aid are included to help set up and get your Organization Supports online.
- Still have extra cards in hand? Use Plan B to get some damage out of something you'd discard anyways.
- Too many resources? Tuck one away under Resource Reserve for later!
- Invulnerability??? Doesn't it stuck??? Yes, yes it does. But it's also a physical resources, can be paid for with Deft Focus (which helps pay for some Hulk superpowers as well as Limitless Stamina and Unshakable) and, if you have nothing else to spend stuff on, why not soak a big ol' hit from the villain? If you're a 40-card diehard, these are the ones to obviously cut; however, I'm a firm believer that 42 cards is the April 25th of card counts so I stick by it. ;)
Hulk is the strongest one there is!
This deck looks awesome!! Haven't had a chance to play it yet but I am very excited to
