Okay, so I was reading some Spider-Gwen comics, and something that kept coming up was how Gwen is haunted by the death of Peter, and that was what taught her responsibility. Now let's throw all of that out the window because in this universe, Peter survived.
We're going to use Face the Past and Show of Empathy to turn The Lizard into an ally for us, keeping him alive with First Aid. Since we're not too concerned with being responsible, we got the Symbiote Suit as well. Other than that we have the usual Web-Warrior shenanigans. Under Surveillance is an auto-include for me, and I just like Beat Cop
There are a few points to make in terms of strategy and a couple card interactions to note. At least one Beat Cop should be on the table at all times. I don't like to spend them on minions unless it's the Dragon. Face the Past can be tucked under George Stacy if you get it before Show of Empathy. If Shadow of the Past comes out before you pull out The Lizard, you can still defeat him and bring him back out. If you bring him out then get Shadows, you'll get the reset of the Nemesis Set and a surge.
Don't focus too hard on the whole Lizard gimmick, because Gwen already has a strong hero kit that can carry itself.
There a couple card adjustments that can be made with this deck. Spider-Man isn't in this deck purely for thematic reasons. If you don't care about theme, 1000% throw him in. Symbiote Suit is also kind of a thematic thing, but I still like the card. If you don't want the hazard, drop it. One Way or Another and Skilled Investigator are optional depending on the scenario. If you want to keep the deck at a tight 40, you could drop a copy of Making an Entrance and probably a Beat Cop.
This deck was tested against expert Red Skull, expert Taskmaster, and expert Batroc. I used the deck as listed without any modifications against Red Skull and it still worked fine. It struggled a bit against Batroc because of the Alert mechanic, but other than that it did fine.
I had a great time making and play testing this deck, so try it out and let me know what you think!
