The Mystical Artist Formerly Known as Him

This deck is inspired by the conversation between Boomguy and Josseroo on Episode 64 of the Winning Hand Podcast, where they discussed the Leadership Ally, Adam Warlock. In their discussion, they posited a theory that to gain the most value for Adam Warlock, you needed to play characters with access to multi-resource cards, such as Domino and Jubilee. While this is probably true, I took a different route and built towards efficiency. Why rely on luck to trigger Adam's ability when you can pick the ability you need in the moment?

The Mystical Properties of the Icon

No one will argue that isn't the best resource Icon in the game. It is. Full stop (except in certain situations where it isn't, of course). Armed with that knowledge, I set out to find the perfect Hero match for our boy, Adam. Enter the Master of the Mystic Arts, the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Doctor Stephen Strange, and his Hero ATTACK SPELL, Magic Blast.

Doctor Strange makes an excellent partner for this deck, and we will build it slightly different than your regular ALLY-swarm/INVOCATION-spam deck that Doctor Strange generally falls into.

First off - Away with the staple Energy, Genius, and Strength - they have no place here. The double resources do not double-trigger Adam Warlock nor Magic Blast. Instead, we will rely on a set of The Power in All of Us and The Power of Leadership, both of which give us those two resources we need to pay for cards in hand, and that sweet, beautiful we need for Adam and Magic Blast once we have our board set up. I also tossed in a couple Resourceful to have a couple extra floating around (They are not meant to be cast!). In the end, we will have NINE energy cards, 6 of which will be constantly cycled through the deck.

Let's Go Crazy (with the Avenger Allies We Made Along the Way)

Next, we add a few allies to support Adam and do the heavy lifting. Iron Man is a good, solid AVENGER ally that is easy to buff. Black Knight is an AVENGER ally that you want buffed. Kaluu is an AVENGER MYSTIC that thematically fits the deck, plus also allows you to fetch a useful event, generally Mystical Studies (to recurr a Magic Blast) or any of the other Events that might be useful in the moment. Adam and Wong become AVENGER with Honorary Avenger.

Mighty Avengers, Team Training, Inspired, & Reinforced Suit will mean most of your allies will have +2 ATK / +2 THW and +3 (or +4) HP. You can choose to chump-block with Kaluu, but generally, you should defend with Doctor Strange. Cloak of Levitation and Wong with Sidekick and Side-by-Side will ready and heal Doctor Strange enough to keep your allies alive and swinging. Plus Master of the Mystic Arts will let you use INVOCATION if exhausted (but you won't be, because of your trusty side-kick, Wong).

Kaluu can be substituted for the third Resourceful - It is tough to line things up to take advantage completely of his ability, even with The Sorcerer Supreme. While it may seem counterintuitive to run a card solely for its resource icon, the added consistency for a big Magic Blast or the ability to choose your Adam Warlock effect is clutch.
