Born to be Wild

Why would you ever play Gamora in leadership? There are barely any attack or thwart events!

Not so fast. I have a idea. With Multitalented, there are just enough events available where a leadership build for Gamora can not only be viable, but be one of her best.

Wild Side (Deck Strategy)

This deck focuses on resources, both within resource generators and on cards themselves. You can use these resources to easily hit the different kicker for all of the events here, shining most when taking full advantage of Multitalented. This build includes status options, plenty of healing as well as affordable allies on demand for a versatile deck while still leaning heavily into Gamora's strengths.

Healing Factor

Remember when I said that we want to take full advantage of Multitalented? Here's idea #1: Prepare to play Gamora like Wolverine.

  • Take the full attack from the villain. Live life on the edge a bit
    • You can defend as needed if you're a coward. You'd probably draw Exhaustion anyways
  • Get that 'Free' resource with Clarity of Purpose

Wishing you had a 'healing factor'? Here's the best I can do:

Don't worry too much. Drop Kick helps you stun the villain and Concussive Blow will get you to alter-ego in case you need to recover.

You can also let your 'friends' take the hit if that's the kind of idea you're used to.

Standing By

Here's another idea: You can have events in a Gamora deck that aren't attack or thwart events. You just don't want them to be expensive. Here they're all 0 cost.

Assess the Situation allows you to extend your hand size if you're stuck without something you can play

  • Drawing into this (or the other 0 cost events) with Drop Kick and Kaluu feels great so that extra card draw isn't wasted

Make the Call allows for us to have an on-call answer to most situations we might need an ally for, including taking hits when needed

For those flips to alter-ego, Conditioning Room's card draw with Gamora's alter-ego action can help you play for any of the 2 cost allies instead of sitting on those cards.

Lose a dead hand with this one simple trick

You draw a hand and the only event you have is Crosscounter. Here's a idea: this deck sucks!, you say. How am I supposed to trigger Finesse and Precision?

I'm glad you asked.

  1. Use Clarity of Purpose to deal 1 damage to yourself and pay for any card.
  2. Wait! You were just dealt some damage! Use a resource and play Crosscounter.
  3. Prevent that damage and trigger Finesse and Precision.
  4. Play the original card you paid for with Clarity of Purpose.
  5. What if that card was Decisive Blow or Forward Momentum? If so, you just used an interrupt to play an attack/thwart event already so you get the additional benefit!

And before you have a idea of your own, no you can't do this with Blood Rage or "Think Fast!". This works because Clarity of Purpose deals damage to you and you don't have to take it as a cost. Crosscounter specifically doesn't specify that the interrupt is from when you take damage from an attack, so this combo is legal to use within the player phase.

And that one is for my fans who think I can't read!

Specializing the Deck

Here's your final idea: Change out some of the events for different scenarios. You don't have to, but you'll have a better time.

Playing in higher player counts? You might want a bit more thwarting.

Playing a stalwart scenario? You'll want to get rid of some dead cards.

Other Card Considerations

Not every idea makes the cut, but I am proud to say that Venom and Symbiote Suit never were considered. Swap in any of these for a worse deck.

  • C.I.T.T. is a strong Guardian support for the heroes that want it, and that hero is not Gamora. Make the Call and Major Victory is stronger regardless
  • Crew Quarters is a very useful card generally, but I wouldn't want to let you heal too much. Low cost allies and status removed the necessity of this
  • Drax is probably better than Groot in raw power, but Groot is a guy
  • Domino is a addition and has a cool interaction with Gamora's alter-ego action but she's a little expensive for how limited her utility can be. Every other ally was just more playable
  • Knowhere is a fantastic card, but it doesn't work when you put allies into play with Make the Call

Results

Having a blast with this! It's fun, it's a little different, and there aren't too many hoops to jump through. Let me know what you think!

Very sneaky with Leadership! I love Make the Call but with 4 Guardian allies you may want to sneak Knowhere in there... Also, don't sleep on Martinex. Concussive Blast is top shelf with Gamora!

@FluffDaddy It was one of my last cuts! Couple of things here to keep in mind:

  • Groot and Rocket Raccoon are the most expensive allies here and as resources, they're likely going to be used as resources, especially early on. You'll be more likely to play them with Make the Call
  • Make the Call putting allies into play does not count as 'playing' them for Knowhere to trigger

This means that there are only 2 allies in a deck cycle (Nebula and Major Victory) that you might actually play in a deck cycle, and you're getting 2 cards back as a result. That's also assuming you're able to play Knowhere fairly early on, when playing Keen Instincts is a much higher priority (and won't help pay for those allies).

While allies are certainly leadership's niche, the idea here is more to have them when you need them via Make the Call rather than incentivized to play them each time you see them. You want to still be playing events primarily like any Gamora deck!

All 4 aspects? What is this an Adam warlock deck?

This is really cool. Clarity into cross counter is totally nuts! I love it!

Dang! That was a freaking awesome Gamora experience!! Great use of Leadership to power all of the other cards. Also, landing Multi-Talented is a blast!

Thanks everyone!

@theromeo3517 This might be one of the leadership decks with the fewest blue cards ever lmao

Clarity of Purpose into Crosscounter was one of those combos I was amazed at when I found it, very happy to share!

@andyr Glad you are enjoying! Getting that full value out of Multitalented always feels great!
