Overview

This is a confuse lock deck for Luke Cage. Flip to alter ego to get the Tough card(s) from Burstein Process and heal up. Confuse the villain and minions so they don’t scheme when Luke is in alter-ego. Then flip to hero form and give them the Knuckle Sandwich.

Theme

Minions do get confused about Luke’s unbreakable skin:

"Don't Jive Me, Man!"

This deck has several sources of Confuse status cards for the villain and minions: events like Concussive Blow, Battlefield Benevolence, and Upside the Head; and allies like Dazzler, Eros, and Professor X. With this much confuse, you can get the benefits from Spider-Woman, Cypher, and Float Like a Butterfly.

If the villain is confused, you can play Observe to get Tough cards without having the villain scheme. (Observe is an inherently worse source of Tough cards than Luke's "Stand with Me!" and Harlem's Hero, but it's fine here.)

When threat has to be prevented in hero form, use Great Responsibility to trade a Tough for threat prevention.

Use Infiltration to thwart and possibly get a minion, which you can confuse if Prism Dust is in play. Sonic Rifle is also here to give more confuse cards.

As with any game with Luke Cage, you’ll want to have his upgrades down to get the most out of discarding his Tough cards.

Alternate Cards

  • Ghost Rider ally can also confuse the villain or minions, but it requires energy resources, which this deck does not have a lot of.
  • You can add a Helicarrier or another resource generator.
  • Lay Down the Law is a thwart event option since the strategy is to flip forms often.

Notes

  • Tested for solo and two player, mostly with other Defender heroes and the Fear No Evil box villains. Kingpin is still tough to beat on Expert.

TLDR

Confuse Lock Deck.
