Cable is one of 11 heroes who can be "True Ronin"--no allies in the deck.
As always, Cable is quite formidable. Army of One is key for the low cost ready. And the theme revolves around Ronin and Stand Alone. Mind Scan and Telepathy help take out side schemes to trigger his hero ability to ready. The Power of the Mind can be used to pay for his psionic cards as well as the psionic upgrade abilities.
IPAC and X-Bunker aid in card draw. Deft Focus can play many of his hero cards, as well as the psionic upgrades.Psimitar is excellent at chipping in with extra damage.
A hefty seven player side schemes fill out this deck, making Cable a strong toolbox character that can take care of himself.
You might also consider Anticipated Attack; however, it plays similarly to Psi-Flail Strike WITHOUT the discount from the Power of the Mind. The first deck pass will build you up, and the second will be the victory lap.
An ideal opening hand includes Mind Scan, which allows you to play Technovirus Purge with your setup ability. (2 threat from a basic thwart + 3 threat from Mind Scan = a free ready, the psionic trait, and a +1 to all of your stats!)
Lock and Load and Establish Perimeter are good secondary options for the setup ability because they will trigger the free ready, aid in setup, and get a side scheme into the victory display.
This is the way, I have always wanted to play Cable!
While one other deck plays Army of One with Cable, this is the first to play Ronin. I'm very surprised to discover this fact!
