It's no secret that Ms Marvel is the biggest fan girl of Captain Marvel, so would would happen if she made a Cameo in Ms Marvel's story. What would happen if Spectrum also showed up to prove who the greatest Marvel really was. This my friends is a team-up for the ages, and one you do not want to miss.
Basic Strategy - Voltron your allies
At it's core this is a voltron ally deck. You have Spectrum and Captain Marvel you want to power them up and have them do almost all the work.
- Whose showing up: As previously mention you are using Cameo to get Captain Marvel.
- Find your allies: Call for Aid & Suit Up are here to get you allies and get the upgrades to go on them.
- Mill your deck for bonuses: Using Kamala Khan's alter-ego ability Teen Spirit. and Call for Aid you will likely discard Digging Deep, which will help you pay for your allies quickly.
- Full Spectrum: When playing Spectrum you want to make sure you do with a Digging Deep. It might weaker your milling strategy later in the game but it is worth it to get the full stat boost with her.
- Drawing Cards: Thanks to White Tiger, Moon Girl, Captain Marvel, and Aamir Khan you will be drawing a lot of cards. This is going to help you get out the upgrades quickly. White Tiger especially is a great Suit Up target.
What about Ms Marvel
It's true that Ms. Marvel's hero ability and her two (normally amazing boost upgrades) aren't doing a lot of work in this deck. However Ms Marvel is great for tanking damage and healing for Sidekick.
Here are some tricks that Ms Marvel offers
- Hold a Wiggle Room between turns. You can use it to control hold much damage you take, and if you do use it, it replaces itself.
- Biokinetic Polymer Suit is a resource for any event, so it can be used on First Aid which is a pretty key event to keep your two allies alive.
- Don't sleep on Bruno Carrelli, as he can tuck both key cards and useless cards you don't really need to see. Spectrum is probably my favourite tuck, as once you have her you don't really want to find her again in your deck, but sometimes you don't have the wild resource to play with her, so tuck her under Bruno for later.
- Ms Marvel loves to flip and this deck is almost exclusively about flipping and healing to keep Captain Marvel going. In Alter Ego Ms Marvel gets so much value but she does need to go to hero to get beat up too so she can heal.
- Using Aamir, you can put White Tiger on the bottom of the deck and then use Call for Aid (in hero) to go find her. If you planned ahead then you set up a Digging Deep or two in the stack before her.
- Speaking of Aamir, Suit Up gives you regular deck shuffles so factor that into your plans - the card you add can show up much earlier that you expect.
Other Tricks
- I always find Innovation to be a key part of any Sidekick deck. Healing a Voltron ally is so valuable here just to ensure they can make it all the way till the Endgame. With the Sky Cycle's these allies are activating twice a turn.
- Face the Past is a pretty sneaky way to draw 3 extra cards given that Thomas Edison is such an easy beat.
- There are 2 each of the 5 core upgrades and no particular order you want to get them down. While a Sky Cycle is great on Captain Marvel early, you really need Sidekick to keep her going longer or she will stall. Sidearm will be great near the end of the game, especially if the villain has retaliate. Power Gloves are great, but also one of the limited mental resources in your deck so you might want to save them till later so you can get more value from a Moon Girl play. Ideally you get them all down and you have 2 allies with 7 health and great stats.
- A note on Moon Girl, she probably isn't as strong as White Tiger in this deck. Partially because White Tiger has two ways to find her and can be played in both forms. Moon Girl must be played in hero, so even if you Suit Up for her, you might not be able to play her that turn.
For what was a pretty silly thematic idea that doesn't use one of Ms Marvel's greatest abilities (event recursion), this deck has been an absolute bast to play.
Great theme! I built one around the Captain Marvel hero to Cameo Ms. Marvel from Nova: marvelcdb.com
But one can’t deny the card draw/card recursion power with those roles reversed in your deck.
