Poor Kitty is just chilling at the X-Mansion, lying in bed, when suddenly a nasty intruder appears in her bedroom. She's not even wearing her Blues and Yellows!

Kitty

No matter, the X-Men are always ready to jump into action. And with the help of Ready for a Fight, Kitty will be too.

This is a deck you can basically play on repeat without thinking too hard and it requires minimal set-up. The play pattern is as follows.

Board setup:

Have Ready for a Fight in play and try to have Practiced Plan in play. Play The X-Jet as soon as you can to give yourself access to a resource for playing RFAF down again.

Play Pattern

  1. Flip down to alter-ego after you're done doing stuff in hero form. Make sure to put yourself into Phased form before your turn ends.
  2. End your turn in Alter-ego and draw 6 cards.
  3. Trigger RFAF when the villain tries to scheme and flip to hero phase.
  4. a) If you have another RFAF in hand, you will be playing that copy next turn. b) If instead you have a Practiced Plan in hand (or neither), trigger the Practiced Plan in play to get RFAF back. You'll be playing both of those cards next turn.
  5. Odds are you will have either a Quick Shift or Defiance in hand. Play Quick Shift if you have it, drawing 2 cards and perfectly defending the villain attack. If you don't, play Defiance. Neither require exhausting and either will perfectly defend the villain attack. On the rare occasion you have neither, it's ok to exhaust to defend sometimes, or just take the hit as you see fit.
  6. After the villain phase is over, play out your hand, making sure to play a copy of RFAF and a copy of Practiced Plan to the max of 1 of each card in play.
  7. Rinse and repeat. One you get more built out, you'll be doing things like:
  • triggering Moira MacTaggert to draw an additional card every time you flip up (almost every turn)
  • triggering Unflappable every turn when you perfectly defend to draw another card per turn
  • triggering up to 3 copies of Hard to Ignore to remove up to 3 threat from the main scheme
  • triggering Flow Like Water, Electrostatic Armor, and possibly Dauntless to do up to 3 damage to the villain
  • playing Mutant Education whenever you flip down to shuffle copies of Quick Shift back into the deck, making it more and more likely you'll draw one each turn. Having X-Mansion in play will let you draw another card here
  • using Angel's Aerie to recover health if you happened to take some damage
  • triggering Ready to Rumble if you were forced to exhaust to defend, allowing you to immediately ready again.

Help Kitty phase in and out as she dodges the villain's attacks and subdues them!

Possible deck alterations:

There is a new card in the Civil War box, Cuts Both Ways, that you can sub into this deck in place of Defiance. Cuts Both Ways will be better for faster incremental villain damage and scenarios with lots of minions. Defiance may be a better choice for scenarios with nasty boost effects, but really it shouldn't matter too much either way - the Protection defense event should be considered a back-up plan in case you didn't draw Quick Shift, which might be the best defense event in the game.

You could consider adding Build Support into the deck to bring out X-Jet faster. I think stalling until it comes up on its own is fine, but I'm not against the idea. I may update this deck to add it in the future.
