As the end of year draws upon us, Old Saint Nick is out to deliver gifts. Adorning his (santa) Symbiote Suit he aims to drop off encounter cards to all his teammates! He has even enlisted his helper (elf) symbiote buddy Venom to deliver even moar gifts!
Fury likes minions on the board to help power up his Stealth suit. Rather than using the tried and true, traditional method of using minion searching events, we are going to find them by loading up on encounter cards.
Because this deck runs 3 copies of Espionage, we also want to resolve a Surge encounter card to get that sweet sweet draw power, while also taking some threat off schemes with Secret Agent. Hence the additional ways of getting more encounter cards onto the table.
Face the Past puts a (nasty) body on the board. However, in exchange it gives Shadow of the Past surge, if Fury resolves it, and so is worth the inclusion for this list. I have added The Bellerophon to help deal with toughs as Fury's entire nemesis set minions are all tough and he has no in-kit way of working around toughs efficiently. The Bellerophon has done really well in testing and it has reduced my reliance on using Spray Fire for clearing out minions.
I dropped Build Support as it can flop in the mid to late game, whereas Superpower Training is viable all game round. This is very much a preparation based deck. Having an extra means of getting Secret Agent into play in the early game is great. Later on, Superpower Training can be used to search out Eyepatch Camera or EM Shield in a pinch.
Captain America is the 40th pick and is a flex slot. I have tried other allies with good success, but am testing out the Cap at the moment. An extra ready is appreciated, especially a ready that can be utilised in Alter-Ego form for mega healing if need be. Once set-up, you want to be in Assault so you are positioned to fire off a powerful Counterattack, and if you have EM Shield in play also, you can assess the damage you will be taking and decide whether to throw it back or negate.
But yeah, basically get a bunch of extra encounter cards on the table to piss off your team mates; hopefully some of them will be minions and surges for you to take advantage of.
I love a Christmas themed Nick Fury deck!
