Wiccan Forever!
Thank you to Solo Marvel Champion for the name suggestion for the deck, inspired by Black Panther's inclusion and Wiccan's recursion. I chose Leadership for my first Hulkling deck specifically to take advantage of Wiccan's ability. This recursion gives the deck a great deal of flexibility in handling enemies or dealing with threat, and the potential Voltron builds only add to the deck's efficacy.
If you'd like to see a discussion of this deck, see the following video: Hulkling Leadership Deck Discussion | Wiccan Forever
- "Demo" video(s) that shows off some turns with the deck: Coming on Tuesday, 11/3/2025 Hulking Leadership Demo Play Vs Expert Thanos
VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST to refine the deck and/or game play strategies (undefeated in both standard and expert): Klaw (with an expert house rule(1)); Ebony Maw; Thanos; and Magneto.
Deck Refinements: Note that against Thanos I had Gambit replace Professor X since Thanos has Stalwart and can't be confused.
Removal(s):
- Avengers Tower
- United We Stand (both copies)
- Yellow Jacket: I whiffed too many times when I played him and needed a card to remove.
- Avengers Mansion
Addition(s)
- Call for Backup
- Face the Past
- 2 copies of Regroup (suggested by Solo Marvel Champion)
- Strength in Diversity
NOTABLE ELEMENTS:
Main idea behind the build: Wiccan Recursion
-
Play Wiccan from your hand with Suit Up to grab Shapeshifter, which triggers whatever Shapeshift upgrade is in play and also grabs a new Shapeshift upgrade to be played or used as a double-resource.
- If used as a double-resource, it can faciliate playing another card, including possibly Make the Call.
-
Alternatively, grab Impersonation to blank out a scheme, flip to Alter-Ego, and grab a Shapeshift upgrade that way, and then play Make the Call or Suit Up, often choosing Professor X or Nick Fury.
- Note that against a Stalwart villain, such as Thanos, I substituted Gambit for Professor X to still be able to go to or remain in alter-ego.
-
Nick Fury will tend to be regularly recurred with Make the Call, especially to facilitate drawing Wiccan or Suit Up, though, of course, the card draw could benefit play in a number of ways.
-
In addition, all other allies but Nick Fury and Professor X are Avengers, two of whom (Iron Lad and Ronin) are meant to be choices for Voltron allies built out with upgrades, which Iron Lad can do teamed up with another ally or even with Ronin to allow him to be used indefinitely.
-
Of course, if damage ouput is needed, Wiccan can snag Shapeshifter Strike to attack an enemy, which is even more likely when going for the final attack against the villain.
Conclusion:
"Wiccan Forever!" successfully establishes a powerful Leadership strategy for Hulkling built on continuous card advantage and utility recursion. The deck's core mechanic—using Wiccan with Suit Up to reliably tutor for Shapeshift upgrades—provides a solution for virtually any game state, whether it's generating resources, mitigating threat with Impersonation, or setting up an effective attack. This synergy is supported by recurring high-impact allies like Nick Fury (via Make the Call), while most any of the allies can benefit from being recurred by Regroup. Ronin provides strong thwarting and attacking capabilities as a Voltron ally, whose life can be extended by Iron Lad. The deck’s consistency and control capabilities were validated by its undefeated performance against a difficult lineup of villains, including Expert Thanos and Magneto, confirming it as a highly reliable build.
(1) Note on expert house rule for Klaw: This modification assures that expert Klaw makes for a consistently challenging villain during playtesting. After discarding cards at the beginning of the game and putting into play the first minion that is discarded from the encounter deck, if that minion is NOT a Masters of Evil minion, I search the encounter deck for a Masters of Evil minion and replace the original discarded minion with it. I then shuffle that original minion back into the deck.

Nov 02, 2025I love the idea of using Ronin here with Iron Lad. And the single SiD is interesting. It's not the core focus of the deck, but 1 copy is nice since you he starts with 3 traits and its always going to end up pretty good whenever you draw it |

This seems like a really strong build! Can’t wait for the video.
