There was a cool deck posted here that was for multiplayer games. It used the ally recursion cards in Leadership to bounce Shadowcat a bunch of times in order to disable a Live Dangerously played by another player. The whole team would get +2 hand size for "free"!

There are two heroes that can come close to doing this as reliably in solo. Psylocke and Phoenix can always activate the full deck search of Cerebro because of their Psionic trait in alter-ego. They are also both Mutants, which allows them to shuffle Shadowcat back into the deck with X-Men Instruction. Unfortunately for Psylocke, her Psi-weapons are Restricted, which prevents her from using the mighty Laser Swords. Phoenix has no innate weapon restrictions and has a game-best 3 THW by default. The damage, healing, and resources provided by the 'Pool aspect perfectly complement her hero set.

Thus:

  1. LASER SWORDS
  2. Live Dangerously for +4 Attack
  3. Attack the villain
  4. Play Shadowcat and disable all those icons on the side scheme
  5. Enjoy +2 hand size for free
  6. Get her back each turn with Cerebro and X-Men Instruction

Otherwise, the gameplan is to chill out in RESTRAINED mode and have a cool 3 THW/5 ATK. Utopia goes crazy with stats this high, so all the X-men allies are thrown in. When you want to get really get cookin', you can use your Psionic Bond Hero form ability or X-Jet to pay for Stick-To-Itiveness for even more readies. With all your allies to block, healing, and Telekinetic Shield, you should have some juicy double or even triple-resource cards available that will let you play some of Phoenix's powerful events along with Shadowcat and your other allies. "I Got This" is super efficient with all the icons in play.

There are probably 3 or 4 cards that aren't optimal here -- some of the allies and Psimitar might be superfluous.

Don't play Phoenix's other updgrades; they are not that great.

Sweet concept. Would Build Support also help get to Cerebro faster?

@Dystopiandream Yes, you could definitely use Build Support, but remember that you can only have one Player Side Scheme in play at a time! Maybe take out Psimitar for Build Support.
