The Hulk ally is probably the most cost-effective damage in the deck. For a 2-cost, you can get 5 damage every time he swings... as long as he discards a fist resource. This has always been the difficulty in playing him regularly though, as discarding a mental or wild means your investment can be lost by chance.

With Gammamagik though, the chance is completely removed. Playing with the top card of her deck face-up means that you'll always know if you have a fist resource to discard for Hulk or not. Therefore, you know you have 25 damage over 5 turns. Even better, this damage can be spread out in bundles of 3 and 2 if needed. This deck is packed with 21 fist resources, so if you don't end up with one on the top of your deck, you will almost be guaranteed to have one in your hand that you can swap using Limbo.

Another way you can swap out the top card of your deck if you've landed on something you don't want is to use Cosmo. He will be one of the allies that you can either use as a cheap block, or to make use of some of the unused upgrades that don't end up on the Hulk. Blade fits a similar role in this deck with his ability to stay on the table and make use of fist resources.

Speaking of upgrades for Hulk, one of the best parts is that ALL of the ones in the aggression and basic aspects that you'd want to put on Hulk are fist resources!

...all have the resources we'll want to discard. With Hulk fitted as an Honorary X-Men and Attack Training, he'll now have 8 HP and be attacking for 4+2. With a Sidearm, it becomes 5+2 and if you want to drop the Enraged, then 7+2. Be reminded of the extra consequential damage, but don't forget that Cosmo doesn't need to take consequential. Game Time is also pretty amazing, as you get to heal Hulk and then swing again once he has Honorary X-Men and Attack Training Down.

With all this damage being pushed, the rest of the deck is essentially about sticking around long enough to pummel the villain. We've included fist resources in Drop Kick and Mockingbird to stun the villain and are awesome to use for the discounted play from the top of your draw pile. Soul Strike will also help with stunning, and makes use of all the fist resources we have.

Ironheart and Triage are the last cards added, but are both cheap allies to play as chump-blockers for when you need a block. Triage can also be used to help heal Hulk once he becomes an X-Men.

Hope you enjoy this one. This should play well in a rush setting, but will also scale well larger games as well. It doesn't do much thwarting, so use your other allies and Magik's basic thwart to keep that in line. Yes, it's disappointing to THW1 with Magik, but just be reminded that you've got plenty of damage coming from elsewhere.

Thanks for reading another of my decks. As always, I appreciate a comment and like to keep this up on the main page for a while :)

Until next time Champions...

first we had Spider-Woman, but i did not see the value. Then we had Domino, and honestly yeah, that was really good. But now we also also have Magik, that's just great.

this deck is on-brand! firebrand!

I feel like prof X is better than Mockingbird. Allows confuse on villain and a strong thwart, can also ready anyone with Honorary X-men on them.

Man, finally able to use hulk for more than just two defenses! Aggressively voltroned-Hulk is the definition of a smackdown. That was a ton of fun. Definitely the best use of Game Time since Honey Badger on X-23

Hulk was my first thought when Magik was announced. Cosmo never occurred to me, though. Truly sicko mode

I just built out a very similar deck but had not considered honorary X-men to add attack training. Have you used this deck multiplayer? I’m curious about the enraged, it gives him more damage up front but way less damage in the long run dying twice as quickly. I’m guessing in solo it’s worked fine since 36 damage from hulk is usually enough to take out a lot of villains lol

@NiceShot318 Sadly this is just a theory-crafted deck forbme right now. My FLGS doesnt have AoA yet (may be a Canadawide issue)

Enraged was added for Cosmo just as much as Hulk. He can be Voltron-ed just as much, albeit a little slower than Hulk, but takes no consequential. Blade also could take an Enraged too and just have 1 consequential per attack.

I originally only included one copy until I realized Triage would heal Hulk. I figure that healing will help make up the difference.

But sadly I can't comment with personal experience yet :( Love to hear thoughts from those who have AoA already as to how well this plays

@teamcanadahockey2002 I built a deck that centered around Hulk and it works really well. I havent done the full setup of Sidearm and Enraged but I did that in a Domino deck and every turn he was hitting for 7. This will work even better without all the wild resources that Domino has.

Oh man this reminds me of a Rogue deck I made some time ago where she was just voltroning any Guardian she could and Game Timing them. This makes me realize it fits here sooooo much better and Hulk is such a good target.

@teamcanadahockey2002 gotcha. One other good card you could consider is boot camp to pump them up a little more.

Mar 30, 2024 teamcanadahockey2002 · 8738

@NiceShot318 Boot Camp was totally in a previous iteration. I cut it because I was worried that not having the doubles would make it hard to play and not lose too much tempo. I think I would include it in a 3 or 4 P game. Probably not needed in 1 or 2 P with the amount of damage you already expect to get I figure

This looks awesome fun.

Cosmo and Hulk using a sidearm is a funny image to think about

@teamcanadahockey2002 Had to pop back in here to say that we finally finished AoA tonight and this deck was so dumb, fun, and busted. My hero got defeated right after we flipped Apocalypse and my 8 year old managed to do 40 damage by himself over the next two rounds with ease. He was so happy. Thanks for this, and that.

How do you keep Hulk alive past 8 attacks

Jun 30, 2024 felixjr · 15

If the villain is still alive you're going to need to deck anyway, so you'll have to re-summon him.
