Hercules has his Labours standing between him and greatness. So why not get them out of the way as quickly as possible? That's the idea behind this Protection deck.
I focused mainly on Defeat the Hydra and Embody Pathos, because both can be completed through direct hero actions.
Early game, one of the most powerful cards in the deck is Ready for a Fight. Stay in—or flip to—Alter-Ego, grab your six cards, then flip back to Hero form and let the villain hit you. If Protect Humanity is in play, you can even defend for Amadeus Cho.
With three copies of Limitless Stamina and two copies of Son of Zeus to ready us—and Hercules readying whenever a Labour is completed—we can afford to invest in Armored Vest and Defensive Conditioning. This allows Hercules to take attacks from the villain and profit from his retaliation, which can reach 4.
We already have a great base attack and The Gift of Battle, so resolving Defeat the Hydra shouldn't be much of a problem. To speed things up, the deck includes Powerful Punch and First Hit. Get the Labour out of the way, ready Hercules, draw four cards, and flip back to Alter-Ego. Even better if you started the turn there and used Ready for a Fight to get back into Hero form.
Embody Pathos shouldn't be much of a problem either, since it has the Assault keyword.Wisdom of Athena, and Hercules' basic attack can all help deal with it. Using multiple readies and Son of Zeus gives you a lot of thwarth potential. Ideally, you should be able to complete this Labour in the same turn it enters play.
Protect Humanity is actually a card you don't mind seeing in play. You can bring Amadeus Cho into play, giving you an extra card every turn. In return, you have to defend for him—but with Hercules' attack events available, you can still put plenty of pressure on the villain.
This deck isn't really designed for true solo. The The Night Nurse and Establish Perimeter are included specifically to support your teammates. You're Hercules—you're here to be the hero for the whole table!
Once the Labours are out of the way, Hercules is free to do what he does best: smash the villain into submission. At that point, you'll truly feel like the hero of the game—and isn't that what Hercules is all about?

Aug 18, 2026Thanks for your comment! My bad, somewhere I lost the rules of the assault keyword. I fixed it in the write-up. First Hit is meant to give it just the extra damage you need to defeat the Hydra during the villain phase. After defeating the hydra, the might be used to help out other players. |
Thanks for sharing!
I hate to be that guy but you can't use an attack event to deal with a side scheme with assault.
First Hit costs 3 resources to deal 2 damage to the hydra, because we have to pay 1 , except on the very last hit, but you deal damage in 4 increments with this deck.
