Hello, Champions! First-time deck builder/poster here. It’s well known that Uncanny X-Men combined with a X-Men hero and a plethora of X-Men allies is very powerful. Selecting a variety of traits among those allies and combining them with Strength in Diversity and Magik produces a fun and powerful recipe for Solo play.
Make no mistake…this deck is centered around Magik’s hero kit and events. With Combat Specialist and Soulsword, Magik is attacking for 4 with piercing each activation. Combine that with Utopia and Stepping Disc and you should have no trouble with damage.
Threat removal comes from allies and Strength in Diversity. Once Children of the Atom is on the board, Strength in Diversity becomes a more flexible For Justice!. Of course, you should aim to use Exorcism as much as possible for threat removal and for the confuse.
Defensively, aim to swap Colossus and Magic Barrier to the top of your deck with Limbo during the villain phase to take advantage of the discount. Your default target with Stepping Disc should be Colossus.
This deck doesn’t run the traditional double resources. Instead, The Power of Leadership and The Power in All of Us have been installed to maximize the number of and icons for the Soulsword.
Ally selections aim to maximize the number of unique traits in the deck, contain powerful enters play effects, and/or add additional icons. The majority of allies have 2 thwart to assist with threat removal.
Finally, this deck exceeds 40 cards. If played whenever possible, Spiritual Meditation and Scrying effectively do not take up deck slots. If you’re looking to get to 40, consider cutting second copies of key cards, an ally, or copies of Spiritual Meditation.
Is this the most efficient or optimized Magik deck? Definitely not. It’s been a blast to play in Expert Solo though. Hopefully you agree this is a fun way to work Strength in Diversity into Magik’s kit. Good luck, Champions!
