The worst part about going through your entire deck is getting an additional encounter card. If only there was a hero could benefit from having these cards...

It's Free Real Estate Meme Template — Kapwing

The entire goal of this deck is to work through itself as quickly as possible, sometimes going through the entire deck more than once in a turn. The most important card for you to get is Star-Lord's Helmet, which increases Star-Lord's hand size while in hero form based off how many encounter cards you have.

Because that is his most important card, he has a few methods to go and get it:

  1. Leo Fitz will let him collect his helmet from his deck. Later in the game, Leo can be used to grab your second element gun as an extra card to spend.
  2. Superpower Training will let Star-Lord go and get his helmet from his deck or discard pile.
  3. Face the Past provides Star-Lord with some extra draws to help try and fish for the helmet.

Early game, you want to hard mulligan every card you can to get the helmet, Leo, or Superpower Training. Don't worry about discarding something else that you might like, it will come back up very soon.

After getting your helmet, you will be able to consistently have a hand size of at least 6, if not 8. Now, the play loops can begin:

  1. Call for Aid allows you to discard through your entire deck, as this deck does not include any Avenger allies. By discarding the entire deck, it ensures that any Digging Deeps in your deck and White Fox get into play. If you happen to have one of these cards in your hand before you turn starts, you can use Peter Quill's Smooth Talker ability to put it on the top of your deck, providing you with free resources.
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy & Knowhere provide you with extra draws, allowing you to do more with your turn.
  3. Maria Hill has an insane combo with Regroup. By playing Regroup, it allows Maria Hill to chump block for your team and come back to your hand, to draw everyone another card next turn. With your massive hand size and card draw potential, you will run into at least one Regroup every turn.
  4. Leader of the Guardians allows Star-Lord to have his allies become even better at thwarting. This includes Maria Hill and White Fox who are constantly leaving play and re-entering, therefore making them not worth putting upgrades onto.
  5. Gamora ensures that if you have a hand that doesn't have a Call for Aid in it, you can try and go get it. If you happen to get a Digging Deep while discarding cards, make sure to spend it before you play Call for Aid, so it can be cycled back into your deck sooner.

With Star-Lord's major access to resources and cards, it is relatively easy to get multiple copies of Call for Aid or Daring Escape, allowing you to stack up on encounter cards. You can also use his "What could go wrong?" ability to gain an additional one. Once you have all these encounter cards, using Sliding Shot and Gutsy Move can lead to massive thwarting or damage.

This deck is built for multi-player playing, which already increases the amount of encounter cards every round, so running a deck that focuses on gaining more encounter cards can be very dangerous. Luckily, there are multiple strong combos that can help to make Star-Lord's team turn a blind eye to his extra encounter cards. Here are a few notable ones:

  1. Professor X, Nick Fury, and Nick Fury, Sr. want to take hits from enemies as they usually are forced to leave play anyway. Using Regroup can send these cards back to their owners hands instead. Even if the player chooses not to play them again, it is a free card that can be spent to play other things.
  2. With all the extra encounter cards, the encounter deck seems to go by much faster, benefiting many cards within the 'Pool aspect and Deadpool himself. A notable highlight is Laser Swords, which get access to acceleration tokens much quicker.
  3. Shadowcat and Live Dangerously work extremely well together, as it provides everyone with extra hand size and Shadowcat can remove all the scary icons from it. Regroup can help to ensure that Shadowcat can be played every turn.

Yes! This is my type of deck! My team is gonna hate me when I show them this on our next campaign!

Love the use of digging deep, white fox, and regroup, especially with a tight event/resource loop. My aggression domino deck benefits from some of these mechanics, but it has to manufacture the card advantage, and I don't benefit from the extra "real estate".. Love it!
