LACK OF SUBTLETY · 2173
In a recent episode of the Winning Hand podcast, the hosts mentioned building decks using their 39th ranked heroes in the popular PubMeeple Hero ranker. (Link here if you want to rank the heroes yourself...Marvel Champions Hero Ranker.
I looked up my #39 and it was SP//dr. Who I definitely have been sleeping on. I actually like her, just hadn't really had ideas for decks popping into my head for her, that was why she's sitting at #39. So I dusted her off, looked over her hero cards and looked for a hook...Web Warrior, tech, good recursion ability, good stuff, but not what I'm looking for. Then I notice Rapid Deployment. Built-In ability to thwart multiple schemes simultaneously. Lets run with that. Since thwarting multiple schemes is good in multiplayer, lets build around that idea as well.
Since we're doing multiplayer multi-scheme thwarting, let's auto load up those 3 copies each of Even the Odds and Overwatch. My original build had Multitasking as well, but I found that Heroic Intuition and Psychic Link paired with either Overwatch, Limitless Stamina, or Host Spider left me not needing it very often. I'm also bringing along an extra copy of both Heroic Intuition and Skilled Investigator, both to help get them out early, and to drop on teammates once I'm set up.
Being able to cancel problematic treacheries for the table is always welcome, so we add a couple of player side schemes, including the easy-to-eliminate Going Undercover to bring Predictable Ploy into action. Spending two resources and a card off-turn can be very expensive for SP//dr, but as she gets more set-up, her options increase.
I've certainly seen SP//dr decks that are way more dominating than this one, but in a multiplayer game, this deck is a good friend to have on the team.

Aug 03, 2025I love Quick Quip and it feels so good in SP//dr. This looks like a beastly thwarting deck. I’m glad someone else went with #39 as well. I’m glad we can slowly peer pressure their podcast into spitting out random numbers for us to build decks around. Heh. I need to make note of this one for a future game. |

Seems like a thwarting machine! I like the Heroic + Skilled combo, very effective for 2p.
