This is the first deck that I'm publishing, so feel free to make comments, suggestions, etc. All feedback is welcome.
The Idea
The gist of this deck is stun lock. We're aiming to prevent activations as much as possible. We're already gambling by playing Scarlet Witch, but she has a decent handle on thwarting with her base 2 thwart, as well as damage in her hero kit. So let's break it down.
Our Bread and Butter
Never Back Down and Tackle are going to be our main source of stuns, along with Hex Bolt whenever possible. I like Never Back Down because Wanda has a base 2 defense, +1 from the Armored Vest, and the ability to alter her boost icons. All of that, combined with Magic Shield in extreme cases, is all but going to guarantee that we hit that trigger for Never Back Down. This is also the reason I threw in Unflappable.
Allies
Iceman, Iron Fist, and Mockingbird are here to help with stuns. Iceman will tag minions as they come in. Iceman and Mockingbird will primarily target the villain. Professor X will throw some confuse into the mix, as well as lend us that beefy 3 thwart. Jocasta is going to fish out Never Back Down from our discard or Shield Spell if that's all that's in there. Ironheart is just going to be a blocker for us.
Everything Else
Pretty much everything else is this deck (and some of the previously mentioned allies) can be substituted in or out depending on your preference. I threw in Shield Spell because it was low cost and another target for Jocasta.
Helicarrier and Quincarrier are our resource generators since Wanda doesn't have any in her kit. The Quincarrier will also help us hit that requirement for Tackle. The Night Nurse is going to make sure that we are never stunned or confused ourselves, as we need Wanda to be able to use her basic thwart and play Tackle and Molecular Decay. But don't be afraid to use her to heal away some chip damage from minions or whatnot if you're playing a scenario that doesn't dish out a lot of status cards.
I was debating between Down Time and Endurance but elected to go with Down Time since we won't be taking big hits. Down Time is going to let us heal off any chip damage in one turn in alter-ego.
The Sorcerer Supreme is an auto-include for any mystic hero. Build Support is going to get us out either of our resource generators early, or Agatha Harkness or The Night Nurse mid to late game. Astonishing X-Men is in here just to hit that 40 card minimum. It's way more useful in multiplayer games, but there was an open slot. Feel free to change it out for literally anything based on your preference.
Final Thoughts
This deck definitely does what it's intended to. It's very easy to keep the villain stunned indefinitely, especially once you're set up. That being said, it does struggle against scenarios where threat is being tossed around. It's also a given that this deck won't do well against steady or stalwart villains. This deck was playtested against expert Dark Beast, expert Ultron, and expert Mister Sinister, and did well against all of them.
Like I said at the start, all feedback is welcome. Let me know any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Jun 04, 2025This looks really cool and I appreciate the detailed write up. I've never tried this type of protection deck with Wanda before and looks effective! Have you had a chance to play it in multiplayer? |
