High Tempo Build Out

Magneto is an incredibly strong hero with a bunch of powerful upgrades. Once he's made it to his final form, you're almost guaranteed to win in most scenarios. By utilizing the readies from Magneto's Cape, Utopia, What Doesn't Kill Me, and later on Ever Vigilant you'll be able to keep the board state under control, stay healthy, and take out the villain.

Magneto Packs A Punch

Fighting Fit is a really cool card that I've been looking for a hero to use for a while now. Magneto is the perfect candidate. When you are at or above your starting hit points, it's a 2 for 5 damage card! That's comparable to the best aggression cards. But you need to keep your hp high.

Staying Healthy

Magneto can lock down minions with Wrapped in Metal, get tough statuses from Metal Shards, and block 6+ damage with Magnetic Bubble. I say 6+ because the wording on the card allows you to get a ton of value. It says, "Forced Interrupt: When you would take any amount of damage, place it here. Then, if there is at least 6 damage here, discard Magnetic Bubble." meaning that if you have 5 damage on it before the attack, and you get attacked for 6 damage, you'll place all 6 damage from that attack onto the bubble, then discard it with 11 damage on it! This makes a big difference and can get you through attacks form the hardest hitting villains in the game unscathed.

Protection helps Magneto even more. You can utilize tough status cards from Armor and Polaris, flip down by using Professor X's confuse, block entire attacks with Nightcrawler, heal with Triage, and utilize the ready from utopia after playing an X-Men ally to flip down and recover. Combine that with the healing and ready from What Doesn't Kill Me, and Magneto is nigh unkillable. And if the allies and events weren't enough, Endurance adds even more security to staying above your starting hit points.

Smooth Sailing

I've heard from many people that Magneto can be frustrating due to having dead hands. I made a variety of choices to mitigate this and make sure you have consistently strong turns with this deck. One thing you might notice is that I included Strength, but not the other two basic doubles. That's because What Doesn't Kill Me requires a physical and is one of the most important cards in the deck, so I elected to take The Power of Protection instead of those. Since Magneto comes with 2 copies of Master of Magnetism that are searchable with his Magnetic pull ability, I didn't find myself wishing for more resources. In fact, I actually cut Energy and Genius after my first playtest because I found them to be a bit redundant and clunky.

Fighting Fit and Ever Vigilant are incredibly powerful cards in this deck, but since they aren't online 100% of the time and Magneto has other cards he's looking to play on the first deck pass, I kept them limited to 2 copies.

My Favorite Card In The Deck - Plan B

Plan B feels amazing with Magneto. Magneto is incredibly rich at the end of the game, and is prone to having extra cards that can't be played. If that happens you can just pitch the card for some chip damage at the end of your turn and increase your output. Also, if there aren't minions for your Wrapped in Metal + Magnetic Missile combo, and you're left with a dead card in your hand, just toss it and implement Plan B! It really pulls the whole deck together and feels amazing with Magneto. I encourage you to give it a shot!

I hope you enjoy the deck as much as I have! I've play tested it many times, and found it to be a smooth running and powerful engine that is satisfying to play.

Stay Zesty!

@Meck71 Thank you! I really enjoyed it here. I got shadow of the past in my play tests and used it to take out my nemesis which felt really good.
