Hey there,
this will be my first deck I am posting as I was having a blast with it so far. It took down the basic test-opponent Expert Klaw (my go-to test Villain for new decks) and Expert Magneto, yet having to try and potentially tweak against Venom Goblin and/or Ronan on expert.
The idea of the Deck is pretty basic: set up Bishop's Rifle and Bishop's Uniform (the uniform being the MVP so far) either by naturally drawing and playing it or by getting them via Side Schemes Lock and Load' and 'Superpower Training'. Once the Uniform is down Bishop feels pretty much unkillable.
By getting hit we will get great amounts of Ressouces (the deck has 15 of them), which will heal us (Bishop's Uniform) and take out enemies (Bishop's Rifle), play our more expensive allies and ultimately help to burst down the Villain thanks to spending it on 'Super-Charged', 'Concussive Blast' and 'Toe to Toe'. All after shooting our rifle for sometimes 6+ damage.
Bishops hero-ability is key, as it discards cards for each damage taken from attacks (hey there 'Toe to Toe') and lets us take all discarded ressources into our hand. This way we often operate with 4+ ressource cards in hand during our turn, basically being able to pay for almost all cards we can draw.
Let me know what you think and if you fine-tuned the deck by yourself, let me know what changes you made and how they worked out for you!

I still want to do a bit more testing to see if the amount of ressources needs to be tweaked, but so far I felt very comfortable with it. Although I realize Digging Deep is not ideal, it is there for a lack of a better option ressource-wise. But I will definitely try out your suggestion and see how it feels afterwards, the mentioned attack events look super useful. To answer your question - yes, sometimes this deck can be flooded with ressources which is especially problematic when Lockjaw has not yet entered the discard-pile. But those were rather rare moments and I often found a use for the ressources anyways (against Ronin you often need to pay ressources to get rid of certain cards) and it really helps to stay in heroform, which is my preferred way of playing Bishop. I know his Alter-Ability is quite good, but in aggression I'm more comfortable staying in hero-form. Although once Psylocke is out I often counteract ressource-flooding with flipping to alter-ego and grabbing Malcolm or Randall. I will definitely experiment a bit more with the deck and see if the 'Digging Deep can make room for more attacks, or maybe FFG gives us another cool aggression ressource at some point that can take its place. Especially against Expert Venom Goblin I am curious to see how this deck can handle threat. |
Awesome, congrats on posting your first deck! Bishop is one of my all-time favorites so it's good to see more decks for him out here.
The Lock and Load + Superpower Training side scheme pairing is awesome to get his key upgrades out! Toe to Toe+"You'll Pay for That!" is a great one-two punch to push out damage and control threat at the same time, which is pretty sweet.
I tend to run fewer resources(9-10 typically), but because you have extra ways to get enemies to attack you, having a bit more doesn't hurt. Like Digging Deep, for example, goes to your hand if it's discarded off the top, but if you are discarding with Energy Absorption, it goes to your hand anyway, so I usually forego that one. It might be worth keeping if it could be used for Malcolm and Randall, but I think their kicker is restricted to 'printed' icons, unfortunately.
I love the inclusion of Lockjaw here. I don't let Bishop leave home without him. The Power in All of Us is crazy good for him because you nearly always have a good target for it.
Overall, I think it looks pretty solid! I might just swap out the 2x Digging Deeps for a few more attack events, like maybe Full-Body Charge or a full set of Clobber to make good use of The Power of Aggression.
Do you ever feel like you have too many resources and aren't doing enough to push damage or control threat?
