She reminds me of a Westside Story.
Ok. This is not your mama's Cable deck. This is all about your friends at the table. A lesson in not being selfish. The entire goal is to get Maria into play as many times as possible, and use other card draw abilities to plump up your teammates. It works with 2 players, it really works with 3 players, I assume it crushes 4 player. This is the opposite of normal cable. Rather than not scaling with players, your impact will be huge the more players you have.
Priorities:
Play Maria Hill, Replay Maria Hill Hill. You do this by using Make the Call to grab her from discard pile, Get Ready to make sure she can off herself and be in the discard pile. Rapid Response to bring her back with only 1 HP so she can off herself. OR using Regroup if she is up and ready to block for you. Call for Backup is another way to get her back out on the table again. Using any and all of those cards above, you should get Maria Hill out as often as possible. The more players you have at the table, the better Maria Hill gets. Remember! Make the Call can be played with permission during a friends turn! So if you have it, you can always open the phase by gaining everyone a card by playing Maria Hill.
The idea is to get every other player so fat on cards that you can sit back with nothing but Maria Thwarts to knock down side schemes so that Cable can finish them and ready, then thwart some more. So best pairing is with some people who bring damaging decks.
Second priority. Get Mission Leader on the table. More cards for the group while you slowly build up Cable's power by defeating Player Side Schemes.
Third priority. Standard Cable Build out. So play Player side schemes that help the maximize group benefit. Chew up those side schemes with Maria activations and Cable activations. Build out table where you can with cards like Graymalkin, Deft Focus, Professor, Leadership Training. OH! Leadership Training can be used to put useful cards like Make the Call back into your deck.
It is going to be a slower build up for Cable than you are used to, but that is because almost all of your resources should be going to playing Maria and fattening up your teammates. You might need their help with minions and defending so that you can focus on thwarting and creating cards from thin air.
Opening:
Pretty simple. Mulligan for a way to get Maria out. So Maria Hill herself or Make the Call. Last resort is using setup to get Call for Backup.
I much prefer to use setup for Specialized Training, but this is only a good play if amongst your teammates your hands have enough thwart to clear it first round! If you can not clear it first round, I usually default to Build Support but depending on friends decks Superpower Training could be better.
The Rest:
Marrow is extremely efficient and good for recursion as well. Sometimes cards will not be the priority, and instead getting some damage on an enemy and having a blocker is necessary.
Professor X is actually less likely to be played than Marrow. He is an emergency escape if you need a confusion to duck into AE. OR if readying a friend's X-Men character would be a big deal.
Psimitar is on the chopping block. I get great utility from it by chip damage most games, but i could see dropping it.
Clarity of Purpose is really good as emergency economy, or a way to kill off maria (very expensive choice)
All of the PSS should be and can be rotated for other PSS if a scenario has specific needs. Example. If the Villain has Stalwart, trade out Astonishing X-Men for Keep Up the Pressure or Generation X.
This deck is insane in Multiplayer. Just fills the table with giggles. My record is as follows.
Start of third turn player phase. Cable is in AE with 6 card hand.
-Use Make the Call and use Graymalkin (5 cards in hand).
-Activate Maria
-Play Get Ready (4 cards in hand)
-Activate Maria and discard her
-Use Cable to defeat Call for Backup
-Bring Maria out on table (5 cards in hand)
-Use Mission Leader (6 cards in hand)
-Play Rapid Response (3 cards in hand)
-Activate Maria
-play Get Ready (2 Cards in hand)
-Activate Maria and Discard her
-Trigger Rapid Response
-Maria is back on the table (3 Cards in hand)
-Play Rapid Response with Graymalkin(1 cards in hand)
-Activate Maria and discard her
-Trigger Rapid Response
-Maria is back on table (2 cards in hand)
!!!!!!!!! That is 6 cards for each player !!!!!!!!
I do not think a turn like this is likely to occur often. I honestly did not ever plan the deck in that manner. But it happened in a 3 player game against Magog, who had a TERRIBLE time. That is +18 cards for the table.
Kind redditor found the inspirado! I have not tried this, but being able to duel wield aspects will ramp this. https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/44794/spider-support-1.0
I do love a good card draw engine. Have an updoot.
