Sometimes, you want to step outside of the pool, take a less chaotic approach. Oh, there's still going to be chaos! Just less. More measured. Like a recipe. And like any great recipe, the end result strives to be greater than the sum of its parts. Shall we dive in?
Poor Wade. I mean I'm Wade, with a mask, but once that sucker is on, it's really hard not to just throw myself at my work. Really dive in, head first. And sometimes, the world punishes us for that. The world isn't fair. But good news for the world, I found a way to play dirty, too.
For allies, we have some of Charles' crossing guards:
- Polaris gets tough for herself, which for us, is enough
- Iceman gets to go all Elsa and freeze the little guys that come out. Let it go, Bob.
- Nightcrawler is a real champ. He can defend and step in front of jerks like Juggernaut and just poof away like a really smelly magician. And, luckily, he can do it in while I'm in alter ego!
And then we have my best friend:
- Cable is the best. He's trying to stay on the table. Unless your friend brings him to play as, then we are throwing him in the discard every round.
We have some really nice events planned as well, check out the itenerary:
- Frenemies oh come on, you know I have to have plans for my best friend in the world.
- Repurpose okay, don't look at me like that. I know what you're going to say. Oh great, another repurpose deck. Yeah, but you're forgetting one thing...me. When I'm not getting skewered by things, I do a pretty mean basic action. And we need those Energy Barriers. I'll explain later.
- What Doesn't Kill Me really helps me. After I stab things with my katanas, it's really nice to get some hit points back. It's for the children, really.
Two little schemes, aren't they cute? Good guys can scheme too, you know!
- Render Medical Aid helps us keep ourselves, Nightcrawler, and Cable alive and ready.
A couple little supports:
- Med Team is mostly there to support my best friend, Cable. Don't say I never did anything for you, Nathan!
- Moira MacTaggert is so nice about giving us a little oomf on the way out the door after some "strategic acceleration token accrual."
- The Night Nurse I know very well. Look, if you went to the ER as much as I have, you'd get to know her too! And talking to her really eases any confusion or stunned silences I might have.
Oh yeah, there's upgrades:
- Endurance I like hit points, hit points like me.
- Energy Barrier oh here we go, Mr. Repurpose thinks this is so cool, never seen anyone play this card with that one before! Yeah, well, fair. But the barrier is really there to help with that pesky auto damage when things go wrong. You know how it is, you get killed by the villain, you're on your couch, and then some card just whiffs right in and deals damage to you, in alter ego. Rude! Well, now you just send that damage right back.
- Nerves of Steel look, it's a boring card. But sometimes you need boring cards.
- Sidearm This can go on our friend Cable, he LOOOVES guns. Plus, we're trying to keep him around. But really, we have this beauty for Armed to the Teeth. Swap this for whatever nice thing we get from our collection. The only limit is our imagination! (It's going to be Sonic Rifle. That's the one. Not only because it confuses, but because it can be repurposed. Don't tell anyone! Big secret!)
- Symbiote Suit I told you there would be chaos! Just wait till you see the look on your friends's faces when you slap that card down with a smile. Remember, make sure you're not the first player the round you play it for maximum impact!
You wrap all these together in one big tortilla and what do you get? A chimichanga that tastes like cardboard. Do not recommend. But I do recommend you try this deck because the only thing more fun than playing as me is not losing to some stupid ping damage in the encounter phase.

Jun 19, 2024I love the write up! Thanks for sharing |
Jun 19, 2024Another kind user pointed out that Nerves of Steel does not do anything, which is something that I missed because I just use it as a resource to pick up Nightcrawler in my test games.

Jun 20, 2024How about Colossus > Polaris? You should be in AE often enough to get the discount and then they are the same, except Colo has +1 ATK! |

I made a quick edit to the other one, sorry about the confusion! Original one I made a swap and dropped Polaris for Armor, forgetting Armor is X-Men only.
