The Goodest Boi
Per the official rulings, Cosmo is allowed to pick the Invocation deck and name Event to not take consequential damage.
Is Doctor Strange’s Invocation deck a legal target for Cosmo’s ability?
Yes, Doctor Strange’s Invocation deck (along with any non-villain or non-main scheme deck, such as Red Skull’s side-scheme deck) is a legal target for Cosmo’s ability.
-Boggs
This deck aims to take advantage of that interaction by suiting up our good boy with Inspired + Laser Blaster + Sidearm to turn him into a 4 ATK Overkill Ranged beast that takes no consequential damage. Combined with Get Ready, you can get a lot of damage done for very little cost. In addition to being a killing machine, Cosmo also helps us find the right Invocation for whatever situation you're in. The rest of the deck is designed to just find him and staying alive.
Some things to note
- Confuse an enemy with Professor X/Images of Ikonn and turn it into a stun with Vapors of Valtorr or vice versa with Mockingbird/Seven Rings of Raggadorr.
- Cosmo with a Tough will continue keeping Tough when attacking/thwarting.
- Sometimes you don't want to Get Ready Cosmo if you want to keep the current Invocation so using them on Nick Fury/Professor X is also good value.
- Master of the Mystic Arts + Winds of Watoomb + Spiritual Meditation will let you go through your deck very quickly. You want to avoid being in a situation where you have to reshuffle with 6+ cards in hand (unless you're about to win anyway).
Other card options
- Honorary Avenger + Sky Cycle + Power Gloves lets you suit up Cosmo even more. The downside is you'll have less generally useful card until you're set up.
- Inspiring Presence is another card to Ready. The heal can be useful to offset indirect damage or retaliate but is wasted 90% of the time.
- Rapid Response is a really good card so it comes down to flexibility vs cost. Make the Call has a wider timing window at a higher cost which the deck can afford to pay so I think it's fine.
Cosmo no longer interacts with the Invocation deck as of 5/18/23 due to an errata:
