Deck Concept: As the title implies this deck is built around the idea of building high cost allies for nothing or close to it. Summoning Spell, Chaos Magic, and Rapid Response do just that. Additionally, I am a Cheap Bastard so I had a LOT of fun playing 4 or 5 cost cards for 2 or less.

Turn 1 - you want to hard mill and use Superpowered Siblings and Spiritual Meditation to get as many as your upgrades out as possible. In particular, you are looking for The Sorcerer Supreme, Quincarrier, Helicarrier, Chaos Magic, Double Resources, Avengers Mansion, Scarlet Witch's Crest, and Agatha Harkness in that order. Mill everything else. Just make sure you have the resources to pay for it. (ie don't mulligan any cards if you draw Sorcerer Supreme, Helicarrier, and 4 other cards for example, as you will need to use those 4 other cards to pay for the Helicarrier and Sorcerer Supreme.)

Allies - After you get out your resource generation cards and your upgrades just use your allies to the best of their abilities. Summoning Spell is there to get your high cost allies out and Rapid Response is there to keep them out after they die. When playing Summoning Spell make sure to count the allies in your discard pile to make sure there is one left in your deck for the spell to work on. (You have 5 of them total.)

The Wanda cards should still be your priority, however, so you will rarely pay the full cost of the allies. I did really like how this deck still has good targets for Chaos Magic even after you have built some of your upgrades. When paying for your cards out of your hand your first priority is still Molecular Decay, Rapid Response (if you don't have any out), and Hex Bolt.

Design Decisions

I originally did this deck as a Voltron style deck with a bunch of ally upgrades like Inspired, Power Gloves, Laser Blaster, and Reinforced Suit for placing on Yondu and Giant-Man. That deck does work but it can be punished if the cards come out in the wrong order. It has a higher "ceiling" than this deck but a lower "floor". By dropping those cards it also allowed me to include Inspiring Presence and United We Stand which will help keep those high cost allies out longer so they can do more damage. If you want to see the "Voltron" version just check out the Doctor Strange version of this deck here https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/13538/doctor-strange-money-for-nothing-and-your-allies-for-free-1.0

I also looked at including Captain America but his best feature (starting with tough) is ruined by Rapid Response doing 1 damage when you bring the ally back. Even so If you playing multiplayer I would probably sub Captain for Heimdall as Heimdall isn't nearly as good if you aren't playing solo.

Would Goliath be worth a look in this deck? You could give him the +4 attack and use Inspiring Presence to stand him for a second attack, then bring him back with Rapid Response for another attack.

@Ionichk Shrug, I am not really a fan of Goliath to be honest. Spending 4 to get 5 damage is a horrible ratio. To make Goliath work you need multiple cards in the deck that ready an ally or he just isn't worth the cost. I only have 2 Inspiring Presence in this deck and really their purpose is to keep Giant-Man alive and hopefully over 3 health. I would need to add multiple Get Ready and I don't think they are worth the cards slots.

I'm another in the camp of Goliath. The thing that's great is he's got 2 thwart. So, you allow him to thwart a few rounds until you're ready to use his 5 damage. Add in a Rapid Response and an Inspiring Presence and he could give you 6 thwart and 15 damage in 4 rounds. You wouldn't have to change your deck (other than adding Goliath).

How did the Nick Fury recursion work with Rapid Response? If he eats a villain attack and you bring him back with Rapid Response, then he just gets discarded right after that villain phase ends anyway. And I’m not seeing anything like Make the Call to get him back from your discard pile. What am I missing?

`@camsimps Whoops, you are definitely correct on that one. I played that wrong. I will edit the text to remove the illegal move.

@camsimps @InigoMontoya Well, never let it be said that no one can convince me to change my mind. (Just call me a flip flopping politician and be done with it Laugh.) I went ahead and changed my deck a little bit below (I removed Nick because he can't be used with Rapid Response and Heimdall. I added Goliath and Captain America.) marvelcdb.com
