Angel – Icarus Reborn (4-Player Justice)
Based on Icarus by Tano Games, updated with newer cards and tuned for a 4-player table where I'm the only Justice player. My teammates all play Aerial heroes, so my job is simple: keep the threat under control while they handle the damage.
The plan
Spend most of the game in Angel form: 2 THW, and Angel of Life draws a card whenever you play an Aerial event. Flip to Archangel with Metamorphosis or Adaptive Plumage when you need a big hit, then come back down to keep thwarting.
Key cards
- Everywhere All at Once: X-cost Aerial thwart that removes 2 threat from each of X schemes (3 if you overpay). With 4 players there are plenty of side schemes, and The Power of Flight makes it very affordable. Best played as Angel, since its printed cost is X and won't trigger Angel of Death.
- Yaw and Roll: for just 1 resource, remove 3 extra threat after your hero thwarts. Play it as Angel to draw a card too.
- Agile Flight and One Way or Another: the original engine of the deck, still essential for thwarting and card draw.
- The Power of Flight and Avian Anatomy: keep your Aerial events and allies cheap.
- Turn the Tide: since you'll be the one clearing schemes, it's an easy way to add some damage in Angel form.
Allies
Captain Britain, Quasar and Firebird are all Aerial and get discounted by The Power of Flight. Vivian blanks a nasty minion, attachment or side scheme for the round, which is great in multiplayer.
Table tips
Let your teammates know you've got the threat covered, so they can focus on attacking instead of spending actions thwarting. The fewer distractions they have, the faster the villain goes down.
42 cards: the extra slot goes to Quasar, because one more thwarting ally never hurts at a 4-player table.
