"If we know what's coming next... we have a duty to stop it." - Maria Hill
This deck centers around the newly released card Righteous Purpose. The goal? Get a bunch of low-cost allies into play early, allow them to naturally shave off their HP with basic activations, and then use your Field Agents to keep them in play at 1 HP for as long as possible.
I initially built this deck with beefy 3- and 4-cost allies for their powerful effects, but I realized that it took way too long to set up; not only do you need to spend more resources to get going, but more expensive allies typically have more HP, meaning it takes longer for Righteous Purpose to provide that ally with a buff.
In order to have Field Agents in your deck, you need to pick 2 other SHIELD supports from other Aspects and add the max number of copies of those supports. This deck is already very tight, so we needed a couple of 1-of's. The Raft is the easiest pick in that regard, as you might actually get it in play and see some value. As for the other, you can pick any of the 6-cost chunkers; I wouldn't expect to get them in play, as this deck isn't really pushing for them, but I picked The Bellerophon because of the extra damage potential late-game.
Early game, you're mostly just setting up your various Supports, ignoring the 6-cost options to get a see of resource generators and Field Agents online. I only exhaust Maria if I have any awkward opening hand with 1 resource leftover, grabbing an appropriate Support to smooth things out. Field Agents are obviously a prime pick most of the time, as they're one of our key cards here.
In order to maintain tempo, don't be afraid to play allies early on. They'll need time to use up their HP and get down to 1-HP, but even then, don't be afraid to spend a few as you get your board going. You have plenty of allies to pick from, so there's no harm in a few of them gradually falling off.
The allies are all selected due to cost and their HP values:
- Ant-Man can enter play with 1-HP if you're already set up, or you can give him a few more hit points while you're still looking for your tools.
- Cosmo can potentially tread water at 1 HP with his ability, but you can always use Field Agents if you whiff.
- Hawkeye (Kate) can toss cards for attacks if you don't have Field Agents available for her.
- Ironheart rebates you a card, what's not to love?
- Kaluu can help you pull one of your powerful events; he has a 1-in-10 chance of triggering, which isn't amazing, but he can be a big help in a pinch.
- Squirrel Girl is just a low-cost, low-HP ally, probably the ally I could see getting swapped out if another option crops up.
- Stinger can act as a 4th ally slot and only costs 1, she's a no brainer.
- Wonder Man can become a powerhouse if you have the cards to toss for his attacks, but he can also casually thwart for 3 without spending a card once he's at 1-HP.
Once you have at least 3 allies in play at 1-HP, Mass Attack pops up for between 10 and 12 damage on average, all while keeping your allies safe from damage and not having to spend any Field Agents. It's satisfying to see such a niche card come in clutch, and damn does it feel good to see the plan come together.
So that's the mission. Take a bunch of no-name, low-cost losers and turn them into the hard-hitting agents of SHIELD. Any questions, agents?
