Cynical Loner

This is not your typical no ally build--Jessica Jones is a cynic! We don't care about building out our defense stat or defending so this deck doesn't include In Harm's Way or The Best Offense... Instead we're just using protection's readying cards like Army of One and What Doesn't Kill Me.

Every Ready Progresses The Win Con

Every basic activation, Jessica Jones gathers evidence and places an evidence counter on Alias Investigations so every time we ready up we essentially make progress on defeating the villain. We’re pairing her in the aspect with the most readies: protection. With 3x Army of One, 3x What Doesn’t Kill Me, 2x Ready to Rumble, and her own identity-specific event, Breakthrough, Jessica Jones has 9 readies in this deck but it’ll feel like even more than that because of Breakthrough shuffling itself back into the deck. With a THW of 3 and ATK of 2, we can clear off threat and blow up minions gathering tons of evidence along the way. Basically we just play a normal game controlling the board and the evidence counters will naturally stack up on their own.

Abusing High Stats

In addition to the 3 THW, crazy new win con, and the alter-ego ability to flip back up immediately, Jessica Jones also has 11 hit points and 4 hit points for some reason. So we can literally just tank hits to the face, flip down to alter-ego to recover, then flip right back up to hero form without missing a beat. Forget about the Leather Jacket or defending, we can just recover for 4.

Alter-Ego Abuse & Ready to Rumble

To capitalize off of Jessica's hax ability to flip down and back up every turn, we have Ready to Rumble to ready back up when flipping up to hero form after a basic recovery. Ready to Rumble is an upgrade but we can basically play it like an event. For example, if we start the turn in hero form, Jessica can thwart, flip down to AE, play Ready to Rumble, flip back up, trigger Ready to Rumble to ready and activate again. It's similar to Army of One here but more conditional because it can't ready us up before we flip down to alter-ego and can't be used several times per turn for several readies since we're only flipping up to hero form once. Because of this, I found running 3 copies of Ready to Rumble a bit clunky and dropped it down 2. Hidden Base is another card Jessica can take advantage of when she's flipping down every turn to gain toughs.

Player Side Schemes

8 player side schemes??? Who are we--Cable?! But with a THW of 3, Jessica can clear side schemes even easier than Cable. For true solo, it's a no brainer to pop side schemes in 1 shot. But because of the readies we have this scales even in multiplayer... In a 2 player game, Jessica Jones can clear a 3 per player threat side scheme like Build Support by herself if she has a ready or Snooping Around. 12 out of the 40 cards in this deck are readies or Snooping Around. In a 3 player game all she needs is 2 readies which is still totally doable. Clearing a player side scheme by herself massively scales during higher player counts because everyone gets to benefit off of the when defeated effects of the side scheme while many times only Jessica is using resources to thwart it. Everyone at the table is basically getting free goodies. Here are our main priorities for clearing specific side schemes:

  • Build Support: Quincarrier
  • Superpower Training: 4K Digital Camcorder or "Now I'm Ticked Off!"
  • Specialized Training: Surveillance Specialist

The other big importance of side schemes for Jessica Jones is that the win condition from Alias Investigations is a response that can only trigger when a side scheme is defeated. Once you have enough evidence counters to win the game, there may be times when there isn't a side scheme in play to proc Alias Investigations, so playing a player side scheme and clearing it will solve that.

Increasing Life

Since we're taking so many attacks to the face, it's useful to increase our hit points through Endurance and Defensive Conditioning. We don't care about the +1 DEF from Defensive Conditioning and just want it for the hit points.

Conclusion

Jessica Jones is an incredibly powerful hero because of her identity card and she's the only hero that can play a no ally deck like this and still defeat difficult scenarios like Expert Kingpin in true solo.
