The Best Offense...Use your DEF in place of your THW and ATK. (Ignore any modifiers to your THW and ATK.)

Other heroes upgrades (e.g. Tigra's Claws) don't work when The Best Offense... hits the table. But Venom's Pistols always fire! With both in play that's a base 4 DEF.

Add Armored Vest, Defensive Conditioning, Innate Reflexes, and Ronin to bring DEF up to 8. (or 9 with The Best Offense... in play).

Ready him with Army of One. Ready him and the guns with Run and Gun. What Doesn't Kill Me heals and readies yet again.

In Harm's Way doesn't get the boost from the pistols, but still 6 or 7 damage and threat removal is good value.

Use Superpower Training to bring in the Multi-Gun which helps with thwarting while you build out and removes tough status cards.

Power of Protection and Preservation provide wild resources to help Venom hit the kicker on his hero-specific events.

Having no signature ally, Stand Alone is a great add for an extra defense or to simply be ready for the hero phase after having defended.

Ready for a Fight grants safe and easy access to an alter-ego use of Project Rebirth for healing.

I haven't tried Venom with the new protection cards but I have been meaning too. I like this, looks good!

@Castlefrank47 Thanks! Despite Venom's bold claim in the title, he's not exactly the best (that's probably Nightcrawler), but he's fun. It's different since his base DEF adjusts with the pistols and isn't a static buff. More thinky, which you may or may not like. I like the puzzle nature of it.

I've been working a lot with heroes that have stun and confuse effects due to the Vulnerable minions with nasty "When Defeated" effects in the Fear No Evil campaign. There's another Miles Morales deck in my pipeline.
