We finally have three Armored Vests!

Wish I had one when I was busy saving future Ronin...

Where is my Armored Vest?

Quicksilver starts off weak

Quicksilver starts off with an unimpressive 1/1/1/9 stat line and he can struggle if you don't draw an upgrade to boost his stats early. Originally it was just the 3 in his kit plus the one from your aspect. But now there are so many! This deck has 8 cards that permanently increase Pietro's stats! Make that 9 if you include Combat Specialist from Specialized Training!

The majority of those 9 upgrades improve his defense which is the first thing Quicksilver needs from the very beginning of the game. It is so important to have a one cost defense boost early that I used to run more than one copy of Armored Vest. We went from having one Armored Vest to "three" with the addition of Ronin and Innate Reflexes! Best of all, we start with Innate Reflexes in our hand!

Testing

This deck was tested solo against Expert Thanos and Expert Magneto. Went 2-1 with Thanos. Didn't lose against Mags. This is the exact list I used (with Mockingbird and Professor X) since I wanted to see if Quicksilver could handle hard hitters without relying on stun/confuse (although Ready for a Fight would have been great against Stalwart to be able to flip down).

This isn't a perfect defense deck (at least at first) so we will be taking damage early on. But there are 6 cards in the deck that heal Quicksilver so staying in Hero form in solo is not a problem. In fact, there will be many times when you will only want to heal to 7 so that you can use What Doesn't Kill Me.

Allies?

Allies with come into play effects provide desperately needed tempo so that QS doesn't fall behind while he runs around gathering all his upgrades. Then, for some reason...those allies always turn and run straight at the Villain and die to the Villain's attack.

As sad and puzzling as this behavior is, it does mean that as Ronin, Quicksilver will be alone often. It also means that he will frequently use his free defense on a minion so Unflappable is great even before you are fully built out. Late game when Pietro has 7 defense, you will draw a card each turn after blocking and retaliating against the Villain.

Final Thoughts

The number of upgrades have finally made this deck very consistent and I didn't feel the need to play Symbiote Suit in the first deck pass as much as before. So if that was a turn off for you, I think the deck could function without it fine. Although I really like that 3/4/7/22 stat line.

It is just too bad that Quicksilver didn't have an armored vest to prevent the bullets from killing him in the movie. If I could save time in a bottle...
