Cable in my opinion is one of the most broken heroes because of the way he can completely flip a game upside down on turn one! Now I’m not gonna sit here and tell you that you can win on turn one with him, because you cannot. However, this setup with Cable (specifically for multiplayer or two-hand) ensures that you and your teammates can get set up early.
The Setup:
Cable has unique alter-ego text, that being he has a deck building ability, and a setup ability. (His setup ability is most important here.) This setup allows Cable to start with a player side scheme of his choice. Now depending on what your teammates are running, may change how you start the game. But most of the time I pick from either Call For Backup, or Superpower Training.
Call for Backup Target:
After you clear Call For Backup, Cable is going to need another side scheme, what better way to do that than with Manifold. Manifold is going to allow the Cable player to immediately search for another side scheme. Depending on your own setup and your teammates’ setup, this side scheme choice may change. Sometimes it will be better to go get Superpower Training to help kickstart your teammates’ kits, or it might be better off to get Build Support to help give your teammates some crucial resource generation.
Superpower Training Targets:
If you are early in the game I would almost always go and get Askani’son. This would allow cable to stay in hero form a lot longer, and still get some threat removal in the villain phase, which in extreme cases could save your team the game. If you are later in the game I would highly recommend picking up his Energy Rifle, one energy for 4 quick damage is very valuable mid to late game. If you have both of these upgrades out already, you can never go wrong with Telekinetic Force Field.
Build Support Targets:
Graymalkin, Graymalkin, Graymalkin. Always. Cables kit runs around the Graymalkin so getting it out early is an important feat Cable must complete. If it’s already in play, Professor is a fine support that gives a benefit to flipping to alter-ego more often. If both are in play, Beat Cop is a good option to still get value out of your side scheme.
Supporting Cast:
This deck is surrounded with cards that can help Cable succeed even as a pure support deck. Chance encounter lets cable go get Manifold again to keep getting more side schemes out. Clear the Area gives incentives to clearing schemes. Turn the Tide is a quick punch after defeating a side scheme One Way or Another gives cable more cards and another side scheme to work with.
Overall this deck addresses all of the issues some really strong builds have. Cable allows everyone to succeed even when it gets rough. He is more than just a side character in every situation and can be crucial to every single win that your team has. Give this deck a try and let me know if you have any tweaks!
