Green Marvel - Legacy
It's no secret to anyone who watches my channel that Captain Marvel is my favorite hero. I've played her in every aspect EXCEPT for Protection, and this an attempt to rectify that.
Captain Marvel's Helmet is a card I rarely play, but in this build I want to pump up my DEF so that I can defend rather than allowing my allies to chump block.
Until I get my DEF up to 5 (with Cosmic Flight + Captain Marvel's Helmet, Armored Vest, and Defensive Conditioning) Defiance makes the damage I'll take predictable, and AFTER I get to 5 it's mostly just another icon.
Defensive Conditioning + Endurance gets me up to 18 HP, which is probably overkill, but the cushion makes it even less tempting to defend with allies (as does Hidden Base, which I'll get to trigger pretty consistently because she loves to flip down to alter-ego).
I made a conscious effort to NOT include Nick Fury and Professor X, and instead focus on all AVENGER and S.H.I.E.L.D. allies for Evaluate Threat (which makes Nick, who is S.H.I.E.L.D., EVEN better but I use him way too often lol).
The Energy Shields are primarily here for Agent 13 and Melinda May to prevent their consequential damage:
- Agent 13 readies Alpha Flight Station a LOT of the time, but she'll ready Sky-Destroyer and Helicarrier too when the timing is right. I'm running Helicarrier instead of Quincarrier because although Evaluate Threat can find either of them, Melinda can ready Helicarrier but not Quincarrier.
- Melinda May gives you a steady trickle of Boost knowledge (which pairs nicely with Defiance) or encounter card knowledge if you have the villain Stunned or Confused.
I had Ever Vigilant in the deck for a while, but because I couldn't even play it until I had a Cosmic Flight on the table, I replaced it with Defiance both for its effect and its resource.
The Pericles is here primarily to Confuse the villain and give Agent 13 or Melinda a Tough so you don't have to "waste" an using their Energy Shield (it's also a very good target for Evaluate Threat).
Preservation has several uses because it's a resource:
- Use it to fuel Energy Channel (and heal a damage)
- Use it for your Rechannel Action (healing two total damage)
- Use it to "kick" Photonic Blast (and heal a damage LOL)
- Use it to prevent the consequential damage to an Energy Shielded ally (and, you guessed it, heal a damage).
There will always be games where you'll get your allies out before you find an Energy Shield. Go ahead and use them, but don't let them get defeated because Render Medical Aid refreshes them for you.
Counts:
- 11 cards with the AVENGER or S.H.I.E.L.D. trait which Evaluate Threat can find.
- 11 upgrades which Yellow Jacket might find.
- 25 resources, which is 2 more than all other resources combined.
