2 Handed Playthrough Video Versus S2/E2 Venom Goblin
This deck is meant to be played in tandem with this Cable deck.
First Turn Kill
The goal of this deck is to kill Expert Venom Goblin on turn 1 before the villain can get a turn!
Mulligan
Call for Aid is an essential card to draw because we need to mill our deck to get Digging Deeps for economy. Other key cards that we want are 1 copy of Blaze of Glory, and as many copies of Daring Escape and Sliding Shot as possible. Get Ready is also good but is not as important as the other cards mentioned.
Setup from Cable
Thanks to the Cable player, Star-Lord should have Gamora in play through Call for Backup. These are the corresponding targets if the Cable player is able to clear additional side schemes:
-
Lock and Load -> Element Gun
-
Superpower Training -> Element Gun
-
Generation X -> Daring Escape
-
Keep Up the Pressure -> Sliding Shot
Helping Cable Remove Threat Out of Turn
Since player side schemes scale, we want to help Cable remove threat during Cable's turn. To do this we want to have actions available since they can be played during another player's turn. Get Ready is a great way to ready up Cable's allies to have them do more thwarting, and Slingshot can be put into play for Cable so he can use her to thwart.
Doing Damage
Star-Lord is meant to do all the damage. We'll have to adapt based on what we draw and what Cable was able to set up for us, but here are some powerful sequences we want to aim for:
-
Call for Aid to trigger Digging Deeps, White Fox, and deck out so we get an extra encounter card.
-
Gamora to trigger Digging Deeps, White Fox, and get us key events like Get Ready, Blaze of Glory, Daring Escape, or Sliding Shot. If we're able to save Get Readies from Cable or Star-Lord, we want to use them to ready Gamora!
-
Black Panther can hold a Blaze of Glory if we weren't able to draw a copy or Call for Aid/Get Ready based on the situation.
Sliding Shot
Sliding Shot does additional damage for each facedown encounter card in front of us, so this is very favorable against expert Venom Goblin who deals encounter cards on stage 2. Don't forget he deals 3 more on stage 3 so flipping him will allow Star-Lord to do even more damage!
