brother-maynard-reading-from-the-book-of-armaments-300x170.jpg

For this deck we shall consult the Book of Armaments. Here beginneth the lesson.
The Book of Armaments, chapter four, verses six to twenty-one:

6. And the Lord called upon Dorek Supreme, saying, “Lo, take these two swords, and heat them and smite them, and bring forth a single sword, and call it [Excelsior](/card/56045).”

7. And Dorek went forth and smote the swords after heating them, and brought forth one sword, and named it Excelsior.

8. And the Lord was pleased with Dorek’s faith and obedience.

9. “Because of thine obedience these words I give unto thee:

10. Thou mayest seek a [Change of Fortune](/card/48014) whilst destroying thine enemies with this and other instruments of war;

11. Thou shalt be [Hard to Ignore](/card/16017) in spite of thine enemy's schemes, and [Never Back Down](/card/14014) before them;

12. Be thou [Unflappable](/card/38013), and fear not the villain nor his minions, for thou canst smite the heads and the limbs from their bodies with [Kurt's Cutlasses](/card/48004) and Excelsior;

13. And when thine enemies come against thee, thou canst repel them with a mighty [Riposte](/card/48018) or a loud [Tally Ho!](/card/48011) For thy lesser foes, a [Side Step](/card/14015) shall protect thee.

14. Retaliate not against those who would mock thee from afar, but offer them no mercy when they offend thee nearby.

15. I shall bless thee in thine endeavors toward [Defensive Conditioning](/card/56046). Thou shalt be blessed with [Nerves of Steel](/card/14017), and thy might shall be multiplied by a [Prehensile Tail](/card/48005), so thou mayest wield thy Cutlasses and Excelsior in the same moment.

16. And thus the number wielded of thy swords shall be three: three shall be the number thou shalt wield, and the number of the wielding shall be three.

17. But if thou hast no other recourse, a [Powerful Punch](/card/32014) may serve thee well.”

18. Thus ended the Lord’s words to Dorek Supreme. And Dorek took several practice swings with Excelsior, and saw that it was good. And the Lord did bless Dorek’s arm with strength in smiting his enemies for the faith. And there began to be peace again in the land.

19. And Dorek praised God for His goodness, and the Lord blessed him, saying,

20. “Blessed is he who fights in faith, yet striketh not in wrath;

21. For his blades are swift, his patience limited, and verily, he shall draw an extra card, for it is good.”
Thus endeth the reading from the Book of Armaments.

For those unfamiliar, the Book of Armaments reference is from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
