Spider-Woman: Kickstart My Heart
Woah, yeah Kickstart my heart, give it a start Woah, yeah Baby Woah, yeah Kickstart my heart, hope it never stops - Mötley Crüe
This deck is all about building an unstoppable engine with your ally, Captain Marvel. By combining the strengths of Leadership and Protection, your goal is to set up a powerful board state that lets you use Captain Marvel and other allies over and over again, while Spider-Woman provides incredible support by boosting her own stats.
Key Cards Sidekick (Upgrade): This crucial upgrade is a Leadership upgrade that attaches to or signature ally, giving them a much-needed health boost (+2 HP) and making them your "sidekick." It also provides a way to heal them: whenever you perform a basic recovery, you can heal 2 damage from the attached ally. This keeps your key ally on the board for a long, long time.
Captain Marvel (Ally): The centerpiece of your strategy. Her ability to draw a card when you spend an Energy resource is crucial for keeping your hand full. With her ability and your combos, she's an ally that gives you more cards and resources than she costs.
Energy Shield (Upgrade): This card is the fuel for your engine. "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)"—you won't be mad when this upgrade keeps your key allies in play. You can use it to block consequential damage from Captain Marvel (or other allies), or to prevent the damage from Clarity of Purpose. Since it costs nothing to play, it's an incredibly efficient way to protect your board.
Clarity of Purpose (Upgrade): The wild resource generator. When combined with Energy Shield, it's a powerful tool to ensure you have a steady flow of resources for the rest of the game.
Other Important Tools Maria Hill (Ally): A great card for early game setup. Playing her lets every player draw a card, which helps you find your key engine pieces faster. She also provides a good chump blocker if needed.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes (Event): This is a powerful card to get extra uses out of your heroes. With Captain Marvel being an Avenger, this lets you ready your hero to get an extra thwart or attack, which is a great way to push for the win.
Squirrel Girl (Ally): She's excellent for chipping away at multiple enemies at once. Her ability to deal 1 damage to each enemy when she enters play is a great way to handle swarms of minions or to finish off enemies that are close to defeat.
The Strategy: Early Game: Setup "Too Fast for Love" is the theme here. Your first priority is to get your core engine pieces on the table. You should mulligan aggressively for Suit Up, which will allow you to search your deck for Captain Marvel and Sidekick. If you can also snag a double resource card like Energy, Genius, or Strength, that's a huge bonus, as it will help you get Captain Marvel and Sidekick on the table quickly. Don't worry too much about managing every threat or minion; a solid setup will win you the game in the long run.
Mid Game: Grinding "Wild Side" is where you'll be now. Once your engine is running, you can start to dominate. Your focus here is on controlling the board and setting up your bigger plays. Use Finesse and Jessica Drew's Apartment to cycle through your deck and draw the key aspect cards you need. You can use Pheromones to confuse and stun the villain, which gives you a crucial turn to safely flip down to alter-ego, recover, and draw a new hand of cards. If you're caught in hero form, Ready for a Fight is your safety net, allowing you to flip back to hero form.
While you're doing this, you're constantly building up your Captain Marvel. Use Clarity of Purpose with your Energy Shield to get a steady flow of wild resources and keep an eye out for Sky Cycle. When you get it, attach it to Captain Marvel to ready her for an extra attack or thwart, which will also trigger her ability to help you find more cards for your hand. This is the phase for chipping away at the villain while you keep your board stable and powerful.
End Game: The Knockout In the final turns, with the villain's health low, you can pivot to a full-on offensive. Use cards like Venom Blast to deliver massive damage. Use Earth's Mightiest Heroes to ready Spider-Woman for multiple attacks in a single turn. At this point, you're not trying to manage the board anymore; you're throwing everything you have at the villain to secure the victory.
this was my first time playing Spider-Woman and building her. I hope you find enjoyment in it, and all feedback is appreciated.
