Have you been obsessed with gunblades ever since seeing them in Final Fantasy VIII? Do you play fighting games and wish you could thematically replicate Sol Badguy's Gun Flame in Marvel Champions? Well, do I have a deck for both of you!
This deck is built around Fusillade and Gamora's Sword. Normally, these cards are a bit too niche and expensive to be cornerstones in a solo-play deck, but they work well together in Gamora's kit. The idea is to get the Sword and Honed Technique into play. Once you do, Fusillade becomes a Decisive Blow which isn't dependent on playing a thwart event earlier in the turn AND it uses a weapon card with an effect which doesn't trigger by exhausting. Win-win!
Superpower Training lets you fish for the sword and get into play early and at a discount. Lock and Load also works and is arguably better considering it's cheaper to play and requires just 2 THW to defeat. I've opted for Superpower Training because, in practice, sometimes it just made sense for me to get the sword out before playing Lock and Load and then I had a (mostly) dead card. Gamora has no trouble reaching Superpower Training's THW threshold and (should you already have the sword out) it can target a valuable Keen Instincts, accelerating your play.
I selected allies that help Gamora stay in hero form as much as possible. Cheap guardian allies and Knowhere essentially gives you five copies of Ironheart, allowing you to get blockers out while still leaving Gamora resources to pay for her valuable attack and thwart events. Sunfire gives you a resource flexible way to deal with a villain attachments, meaning you can play him and your best events in the same turn.
You'll generally want to tailor your event cards based on the villain. The events listed here are based on what I used to beat Expert Klaw. Klaw has a bit of everything so this seemed like a relatively representative list. Hard Knocks and Precision Strike keep Gamora in the fight while Multitasking and Three Steps Ahead give her options for dealing with the side schemes. Keen instincts is a real boon with the deck's Justice cards, enabling you to consistently hit the resource kicker requirements. Gamora gets extra Martial Prowess value as the card generates a resource for any attack event, not just Aggression ones. This deck has 15 Martial Prowess targets, making it nearly as consistent as Helicarrier but for fewer resources to initially put down.
I hope you enjoy this deck! I always enjoy it when theme and functionality come together in this game and this was a lot of fun to put together.
