Introduction

This deck attempts to capture the essence of Magneto's themes and mechanics: Control, Power, and Domination.

Too Big to Fail

This is a 50-card deck by design. The conventional wisdom is to minimize deck size to improve consistency and increase the relative quantity of powerful signature cards. Magneto subverts this wisdom by simultaneously neutralizing the penalties and reaping the benefits of a larger deck.

Power of the Pull

Magnetic Pull allows us to sift the wheat from the chaff, attracting our epic upgrades so we can reliably build out every turn. Once we get our armor online, we are rewarded for discarding our non-magnetic aspect and basic cards in the process. And once we get our Cape online, we are effectively double-rewarded for these bonuses derived from our pragmatic indifference.

Playing with a Stacked Deck

To offset the chaos of our brutal strategy, we are filling the extra deck slots with redundancy and efficiency. At this point, it's a numbers game.

  • We want to see an ally every turn, so we're bringing the best of the best and the best of the rest.
  • Mission Training turns survivors into leaders. Promote the winners and chump block with the losers.
  • Game Time further catapults our winners into victors.
  • Infiltration is our secret sauce. Wrapped in Metal and Metal Shards let us turn challenges into opportunities, but require a minion to begin the chain of events. Infiltration's downside is our catalyst.
  • Gunboat Diplomacy and Children of the Atom promote our militia into an unstoppable army.

Final Flourishes

  • Heart of the cards: Magnetic Pull early and often. You WILL discard powerful cards, but you will find equally powerful alternatives in the process.
  • Put out the recycling: Be thoughtful about stacking your discard before flipping down for a cup of tea.
  • Power of Friendship: Flood the board with allies. Prioritize X-Force allies and/or Children of the Atom to get Gunboat Diplomacy online.

Diplomatic Relations

This deck is designed for multiplayer. As such, we should negotiate to see who is bringing Build Support and Superpower Training. If needed, we can easily swap out Generation X for a more cooperative choice.

Cull the Weak

This deck currently has 51 cards. I leave it as an exercise for the reader to cut one card before each battle.
