I could never find the 5 cards to cut to get it to 40, but the general gist is to use the various upgrades (Electrostatic Armor and Energy Barrier) and Riposte to deal damage to Zola without taking his retaliate (since they are not attack coded), and use those same cards to finish minions to get cards for Change of Fortune.
With Desperate Defense and our once per phase auto-ready you can defend multiple times between the villain and minions to start your turn still ready, and if something bad happens you have What Doesn't Kill Me to ready yourself up and start it all over again.
Ideally you play all or most of your Upgrades and Supports first so later in the game your deck is all Events and the few Allies. Use your basic activations for dealing with threat or getting minions low enough they kill themselves running into you, and let the villain take himself out on his turn.
