Scarlet Witch Voltron Deck Guide This Voltron deck revolves around Scarlet Witch’s Signature Ally, Quicksilver, and focuses on attaching multiple upgrades to him while leveraging Mighty Avengers to boost his stats. While this deck archetype has been explored before with various heroes, I’ve refined it to deliver surprisingly strong results. Even though I’m a bit late to the party, the deck has exceeded my expectations. Let’s break down the strategy into distinct phases: Setup, Early Game, Mid Game, and End Game.
Setup Phase The key to success in the setup phase is an aggressive mulligan for essential cards: Summoning Spell or Quicksilver. If neither is available, keep Agatha Harkness and/or Spiritual Meditation to help dig deeper into your deck. While it’s easy to overlook Scarlet Witch’s ability to control boost cards, it’s a handy tool and can be quite useful, even if it’s not the primary focus of the deck.
Early Game • Get Quicksilver into play ASAP: This is your top priority. If you’re lucky enough to play Quicksilver with two double resources, consider skipping Summoning Spell (since it’s a Hero Action) and use Superpowered Siblings right away before your first flip to Hero. • Play upgrades on Quicksilver: Start with Sidekick and save Honorary Avenger for Scarlet Witch. This is vital for keeping Mighty Avengers consistently active. • Play Mighty Avengers, Bloodgem, and other upgrades: Prioritize Mighty Avengers to pump up Quicksilver’s stats. After Quicksilver has gained some upgrades, consider adding Agatha Harkness, Scarlet Witch’s Crest, and The Sorcerer Supreme to further strengthen your board. • Save Chaos Magic for cards that cost 2 or more resources to maximize its value.
Mid Game By now, you should have a solid setup, with most of your Supports and Upgrades (except Magic Shield) in play. At this stage, you should primarily be drawing Events, Resources, and Magic Shield. • Flip Scarlet Witch every turn: This maximizes the value of both her Hero and Alter-Ego sides, allowing for recovery and the ability to use Superpowered Siblings to draw that extra card. • Monitor Schemes closely: While focusing on powering up Quicksilver, don’t lose track of the Villain’s Schemes. Managing the schemes is crucial to avoid getting overwhelmed.
End Game As you reach the endgame, your priorities will depend on the encounter cards the Villain throws at you, but here’s a suggested play pattern:
- Attack or Thwart with Quicksilver: Use Quicksilver’s boosted stats to deal damage or thwart schemes.
- Recover with Scarlet Witch: This will allow Sidekick to heal Quicksilver, giving you even more benefits.
- Ready with Side-by-Side and boost stats or heal based on your HP: Keep your team healthy and your board strong.
- Heal Quicksilver with Innovation and Side-by-Side: Use these healing abilities to keep Quicksilver alive and effective.
- Attack or Thwart with Scarlet Witch: Scarlet Witch can still contribute to the board with her attacks or thwarting.
- Ready Quicksilver: Use Quicksilver’s action ability, Sky Cycle, or Side-by-Side to ready him, allowing another round of attack or thwart.
- Repeat: Continue the cycle of attacking, thwarting, healing, and readying, ensuring that Quicksilver keeps up the pressure without succumbing to damage.
- Play Hex Bolt, Molecular Decay, and Magic Shield: Use these cards during your player phase to control the flow of the game.
- Control the encounter deck: Use Scarlet Witch’s ability Chaos Control to manipulate and manage encounter cards, giving you a strategic advantage over the villain. Also, don’t forget to save cards like Order and Chaos and Warp Reality to help you control and manipulate the encounter deck when you need it most. These cards can be crucial for altering the course of the game and ensuring that encounter effects work in your favor.
Conclusion This Scarlet Witch Voltron deck is centered around boosting Quicksilver’s stats through powerful upgrades and synergy with Mighty Avengers. The deck excels by establishing a strong board early, maintaining control over Schemes, and maximizing the effectiveness of the hero’s actions through careful resource management. By following the recommended strategies in the early, mid, and endgame phases, you'll be able to maintain momentum and adapt to the ever-changing battlefield. While this deck may feel familiar, its surprising effectiveness offers a dynamic and refreshing playstyle.
I overlooked the United We Stand event card; use it to heal both of them as necessary.
