Welcome to the Danger Zone!

This deck is featured on Experimental Research Episode 4, where I give a lot more detail about it, how it works, and also a little about myself and deck-building philosophies. Check it out here

The general strategy with this, unlike Protection build, is pretty much never use the DEF action and lean heavily on Danvers' and Protection's kit to avoid, redirect, or heal as much damage as possible.

There's plenty of sustainability available with Captain Marvel's own hero ability, Rechannel, as well as Med Team and a single copy of Endurance.

To help complement your healing, the deck includes Energy Barrier, Nova, and Preemptive Strike, which along with Energy Channel and Rechannel. This combo synergises quite well to allow you to deal damage while also avoiding any defending.

Nova is a strong contender for MVP of this deck and can kill minions before their attacks resolve. He can help ping the villain if you need just a little push to finish the scenario. Energy Barrier works similarly and can redirect damage back to its attacker or even at another enemy. Doing the latter can be quite a boon, as you'll defeat some minions before they get a chance to activate. Preemptive Strike feels so great cancelling a 3-icon boost card, but it's still efficient at 2 or even 1. What's more, as an resource, it can be used to Nova or Energy Channel.

My favorite part about this deck is how cohesive it is and how it kind of enhances the mechanics of the game. Every card in your hand is a resource or a card you play for its effect, but for about three-quarters of the deck, you can also convert it to 'free' healing, damage, damage prevention, or extra card draw. It also turns Protection on its head by actively avoiding the DEF action and using the attacks against you as fuel for the engine of the deck.

Heard about this updated list on the podcast: I missed it! Great combo and glad to hear it’s still reliable after a year with minor tweaks

I wonder how you would build a Captain-Marvel-Protection Deck nowadays (with more cards in the pool). :)

@Toek Ever Vigilant is a wonderful card for this, as are Side Step and Subdue. I've tried Side Step and like it a lot, but i'm still waiting on Star-lord and any subsequent packs in my country, so i haven't tested them yet :'(

but hopefully soon!
