The new card Face the Past is such an interesting and fun new twist. There are some heroes where it would be a very bad choice to play (looking at your Phoenix). Personally, I think that it's a bit of a trap because you essentially get 2 cards and a ready in exchange for your nemesis. If you can take out that nemesis with your ready, then you've netted yourself some cards. However, as I've been looking at many heroes, I think that most times the benefits of this card generally just gives you the tools needed to deal with the minion you just pulled. The solutions just ends up solving the problem.

HOWEVER, there is one thing that changes this math in a very extreme way, and it would be to use the resources you get to play Karma and then control your Nemesis. In a way, this has always been possible, but getting Karma to control a big value minion has always been unreliable. Face the Past can now help to change that.

In order to make this worthwhile, we'll have a couple of things we'll be looking for in a character who can make this work.

1) We need a Hero who likes playing with Protection cards. Green isn't gross anymore, but our hero needs to be happy playing this style.

2) We need a Hero who has a Nemesis who isn't Elite. This narrows down our list considerably, as most are elite.

3) We would prefer a Hero who's Nemesis doesn't have an 'enter play' ability that also harms us. Having 5+ life would also give us 3 activations. Someone with 3 ATK would be nice too.

This narrows our list greatly, but we do have one other condition:

4) We want a Hero who can ensure that we get Face the Past and Karma at the same time, so we can play one right into the other. Would be good to have a support card that allows you to store cards underneath them that can be played later.

So obviously, if you're clicked on this deck, you know that the best way to play this combo is to use Ghost-Spider. It's pretty straightforward then - put Face the Past under George Stacy, and then when you draw Karma, use FtP to get the The Lizard into play, and make him your friend using Karma. Without any healing, this means that you'll get 3 activations of 3 ATK each, plus a block from Karma at the end. This will cost you Karma, one other card from hand, plus the stored copy of FtP. For 3 ER, getting 9 ATK and a block is really quite awesome. You can also use Med Teams to heal the Lizard, seeing as you are sort of making yourself a Signature Ally in this way.

Everything else is really just straight forward Ghost-Spider stuff. Personally, this is the shell of how I normally play her, but you can absolutely make some changes. But honestly, most of us play her in Protection like 90% of the time right? So just build the deck like you normally do, just add in FtP and Karma now...

As always, I would love for you to interact in some way with a comment or a like. Always fun to get the community engaged in discussion! Until next time Champions...

Very cool deck! Gwen and 2 peter parkers are working together again. Face the past is also a nice emergency ready for when Gwen gets exhausted by an encounter card or something. Do you ever need to sub in an armored vest or something for particularly high ATk villains?

Armored Vest is good if you ever get a villain with a base 4 ATK. Usually Im expecting one of my defense cards to cover the boost (and ready me) so if they are base 3 ATK or lower its reliably a perfect defense strategy

Super neat idea! Any cards that didn't make the cut when testing?

@corbintm Honestly, this is just 2 new cards added to any old Protection Gwen deck. Based on personal playstyle, I would encourage people to modify as they like. This is just a cool combo that is pretty easy to hit and takes just 2 cards.

I really like trying to get Peter Parker to ready Gwen and use Med Team to keep him up. I can see Electrostatic Armour being valuable too though.

I've tried messing around with Change of Fortune too, but I don't find I need the tough or healing often from "Bub", and I don't have a reliable way to kill in the Villian phase. I mean, I can use Ghost Kick but that spends 3 resources to earn 2 back...

I also have enjoyed using WoLaD with SP//dr ally along with Warrior of thr Great Web in order to boost her ATK. Thats another interesting twist.

Also, she hates being exhausted so I have even run Tenacity at times for her.

Hope that shares some other ideas!

Also george's extra event storage makes this deck more sense since it helps karma to capture lizard! lol
