Hello! I have a soft spot for "bad heroes" so Im drawn to Thor. You know his weakness and strengths - bad hand size, expensive cards, and minion based gameplay.
Some notes:
-#Build Support is the MVP of this deck - 99% of the time, you will use this to grab Asgard to boost your hand size. Use Defender of the Nine Realms to complete this asap and draw 2 cards. If you have Asgard down, grab God of Thunder, #Quincarrier, and #Helicarrier in that order of priority.
-#For Asgard is like Build Support but a bit different - same targets with Build Support. You can also grab Valkyrie to kill 2 minions or Sif for thwarting or a final push for Thor.
-#Sif is almost always used to thwart since damage is very easy to come by with the card choices. Same for Nick Fury, 3 cards isnt always the right call with Thor, remember that he can thwart for 4 total as well.
-The #Hammer Throw/#Lightning Strikes are noob traps - dont prioritize them until you have resource generators down in the table. Early game these cards are just resources.
-#Limitless Stamina makes you laugh at exhausts and with your hammer and combat training, its a cheap 4 damage, possibly more with your 0 cost aggression cards such as Skilled Strike and Mean Swing.
-If you have allies out with 2 health remaining, you should always see first what happens with your Hulk ally. He can deal 1 damage to all characters which can devastate your board.
-Dont forget that if a minion is revealed during the encounter phase or villain activation, you can still use DOT9R and Angela to get 2 more cards during your phase.
-Professor X can give you a free turn with his confuse and stun. 3 thwart can also buy that extra time that you need to swing for the win.
-Godlike Strength is a way to take back your turn if you get stunned - 2 health is not bad, that can help you tank but you cannot afford to miss a turn to swing.
Overall in the early game avoid
- hammer throw
- lightning strike
- thors helmet
- godlike stamina
- combat training
Go for
- build support
- asgard
- for asgard
- god of thunder and resource generators
Try to stay in hero mode and deal upwards of 3 damage per turn. Use allies to chump when low.
Also, dont forget that in alterego, you can repeatedly use Mjolnir as a resource so its like having a 6 card hand size. Not really, but we have to make the most of what we have.
Enjoy and swing for the fences!
