I know this isn't a 40 card deck, but if you think about it, it really is. :D

Laugh at the villain and defend the table strangely consistently.

Have you ever wanted to show your friends how much you appreciate their damage or thwart. Maybe you have friends with lots of friends, and you want to make sure they all know you're friendly...and in the neighborhood. This deck will help you protect your friends so they can do their best damage, thwarting, or swarming.

This is a Con of Heroes deck aimed at rarely having any member at the table defend. How do you do that? Don't worry, you're ready to go turn one, everything else just helps.

Starting Allies

With any defense deck, it's nice to have an ally who can defend three times. Enter Multiple Man. He's insanely consistent to be able to get turn one, and he gives you three defenses out of the gate. The best part is that you can use Scientist to help make him easier to pay for.

Your Hero Phase

Your hero phase should always be spent setting up defenses for the villain phase. It's okay not to thwart or defend. Put out Indomitable or Nerves of Steel. A Web-Shooter can always help pay for things on the villain phase. If you are able to get an early Armored Vest, Unflappable, or Specialized Training, then that's awesome! If you get the coveted 5 DEF without an event, you'll be in great shape. But in testing this, you rarely need that much defense.

Help out

Containment Strategy is meant to help Justice out. Especially with Player Side-Schemes, it's nice to be able to passively thwart this out. One villain round of defense will remove 2/3rd's of the threat on a player side-scheme (a little less for Specialized Training, and enough to defeat Establish Perimeter). It's just a nice added threat mitigation.

Defend Everyone

Eclipse your dreams of keeping your friends alive by defending to death, but don't actually die. In the (sometimes not so) rare event you take damage, use Aunt May to get 80% of your health back. Take that, Venom, your support only gets you 50% of your health back. It's especially worthwhile to flip down after you give everyone a tough status through Establish Perimeter. This will help you get a larger handsize to come back and set up big defenses next time.

Jocasta and Brother Voodoo will help you get events ready for the next villain phase, and they make great defenses too.

Watch out for the Reshuffle

Allies are a great part of this strategy to defend the table. Make sure you get as many of them shuffled back in as possible, especially Multiple Man. You want to be able to draw one of him each time you have a starting hand to be able to get those 3 defenses in.

Stun for Control

This was tested on both Tower Defense and Morlock Siege in 4 players. You have stuns available to you. Enjoy the two free defenses from Webbed Up. Use your defense and Never Back Down to hold up 2 villain activations. In the event that you don't get the kicker from Desperate Defense or Never Back Down, use Indomitable to pick yourself back up and try again.

While it was easy to stay under 5-7 damage in Tower Defense, Morlock Siege had me weighing my options a fair amount, but each time, it was very manageable. While it only happened at the end of each game, once you have Armored Vest, Defense Specialist, and Indomitable, the villain rarely did anything on his phase, and I started my turn with 6-7 cards.

Containment Strategy is such a beautiful card. I love that they added that. I like these tank builds a lot. I have one with Gwen and side schemes were always a problem, until Containment Strategy.

Agreed, @Pedroq! That has been one of my favorite protection additions. That’s a great call with Ghost Spider, especially so that you don’t have to wait on a Phantom Flip!
