I didn't think much of Suit Up when I first saw the card, but it really does give many new options for deck building. Peter is the ideal candidate as it enables us to quickly build upgrades for Black Cat and find Warrior of the Great Web. Both of these could be done before, but Suit Up makes it consistent.
That's a lot for one deck, but it does all fit in!
Get Dressed
- Suit Up can search for a "Spider" ally and Warrior of the Great Web, makes Peter with Web-Warrior support way more consistent.
- It enables quickly building upgrades on Black Cat, who is a great target of course thanks to her 0 consequential damage on attack. This is even better now thanks to Sidekick and Side-by-Side.
- The 2nd copy of Clarity of Purpose for Black Cat makes use of the extra health and healing from Sidekick.
- It really adds consistency and speed. Every upgrade is searchable, including Clarity of Purpose. Remember that although it has to be possible to equip the upgrade on the ally, you don't have to! White Tiger is included to have an Avenger so that you can get Sky Cycle if needed.
- It also means every ally is searchable, including Professor X. With that in hand can always get a confuse when flipping to alter-ego.
- Extra resource from Peter's alter-ego ability helps pay for it.
- The spare copy of Honorary Avenger ensures there is always a target for Suit Up. Can occasionally be used to get an extra basic action or defense from a Web-Warrior ally.
Get Webbed
- It's nice being able to use Peter with the Web-Warrior support, there is a lot of synergy there.
- Web of Life and Destiny and Peter's hero ability combined give so many draws. Helps to get other upgrades for Black Cat quickly.
- Ghost-Spider can block an attack, then search for Enhanced Spider-Sense. Makes for some very easy villain phases. You can get her back with Suit Up if you go to alter-ego.
- Recurring SP//dr helps with thwarting.
- Otto Spider-Man can ready upgrades such as Ingenuity, Sky Cycle, or Web-Shooter (which is also a tech).
Why Both?
- There are certainly good builds that focus on either Web-Warriors OR Black Cat upgrades, but they do work together.
- Readies from Side-by-Side works well with the boosts from Warrior of the Great Web. You can usually get one or two Web Warriors to die to consequential, which then also extra cards from Web of Life and Destiny. With all of the draws you can often stack multiple Side-by-Side on the same turn.
- Makes use of Suit Up for both Spider-Man and Black Cat.
- The deck has a crazy amount of resources in general thanks to double Clarity of Purpose, Web-Shooters, and Ingenuity.
Tips
- You want to mulligan to try and get Warrior of the Great Web on the first turn. I recommend prioritising this over Black Cat + Sidekick, as you have to be in Hero form to play Warrior of the Great Web, so if searching it via Suit Up you want to do it on a turn where you start in Alter-Ego.
- If building up for a big turn to finish the game, try to have a Web Warrior ally or two in play at the start of your turn to get boosts from Warrior of the Great Web. Note that SP//dr can die to consequential twice on the same turn if she is in play with 1 damage.
- Command Team is nice, but not essential if you want to drop to 42 cards. It's good for an extra attack from Black Cat, but also for extra uses of Professor X, which does help with thwarting.
- Thwarting is probably the weakest aspect of the deck. It isn't bad, but does not have much spare. You can get a bit extra from Side-by-Side if needed, Black Cat can take some consequential damage. It helps if there are at least some minions so that Spider-Tracer can be useful.
I usually don't like Voltron-type decks that focus on one ally, but I found this one fun to use. It feels way more consistent and does not take too long to set up. The deck ends up with a silly amount of draw/resources, with plenty of control thanks to Spider-Man's hero kit combined with Ghost-Spider. It dealt with the expert scenarios I tested against, including Red Skull which is somewhat thwart-heavy. Hope you enjoy the deck if you try it!
And because I couldn't think of a proper theme for this write-up I will just leave you with this image of the famous Spider cosplayer in Madrid.

Apr 05, 2024Oh man! The spider ally and web is awesome!! I was so blind by black cat that I totally didn’t see how awesome that is to grab warrior on basically turn 1 |
Apr 05, 2024This is fantastic. I've already built some Spider-Woman decks based off this idea. |
